The Chiefs’ upcoming season will be billed as the **** Vermeil farewell tour, whether the Chiefs coach likes it or not. He’ll like the theme a lot better if the season becomes a victory tour, too. Vermeil, as you might expect, doesn’t want his coaching future to become an issue. Coaches don’t like distractions, especially when they are the distractions. “We haven’t discussed **** Vermeil coming to the end of his career,” the coach said recently. “If we don’t win, I should leave. If we win, then I’ll have to decide.” Will Vermeil’s status affect the Chiefs one way or another? It’s hard to say. Players who’ve been with him through much of his stint in Kansas City would love to send him out a winner. “I prematurely left one team after the 1999 season,” Vermeil said. “I don’t want to do it again.”

Why is he retiring? he tried that before, but he couldnt stand not having the group hugs and crying in the showers with his players, the man looks for an excuse to have a special emotional moment, he sees a baby bird fly over the practice field and the next thing you know he is clutching trent green in an emotional embrace[ the whole time Trent has a look on his face like he wants to be shot before enduring another minute of the accidental crotch rubbing that goes on during the emotional embraces] Nope, i dont see D.i.c.k Vermeil retiring anytime soon.

its general discussion.. I find that anything that has to do with other teams...especially those that are in the same division.. as general discussions. I don't understand how general discussions have to be 'generally' about the broncos only. The whole NFL is interesting to talk about.

This is the last year on Vermeils contract. It will be interesting to see if he stays another year. I personally think he will..but if the chiefs have another season like last year... I think he will bow out. He doesn't have it in him to continue through 'rebuilding' years. Priest Holmes has indicated that this may be his last year as welll...and its the last year for the Owner to be involved. He's retiring and handing the reigns to his son. So this is a BIG year for the Chiefs. I think you may see Roaf have some career decisions after this season as well... ESPECIALLy if Vermeil and Holmes are out.

I'm gonna have to agree w/most of you guys. I honestly dont think the Chiefs will make it to the playoffs this year, I am actually predicting they will be 3rd in the division at best. I know they got talent, they just have not heart. I say D.Ick retires at the end of the season, and I dont think he'll coach again, he needs to move to Florida and take it easy.
