  • Need an outside opinion on chiefs...

OK im being chastised on warpaint for this so i thought i would come and ask some people who arent going to play favorites and loyalty. I know denver fans watch the chiefs games as we here watch the denver games.. I have been saying that i think LJ is now a better back than priest holmes and he should be starting.. I get a bunch of crap in return like look what priest has done for us bla bla bla.. LJ is faster and i think they are now on an even keel when it comes to field vision... Im not basing this on the 97 yard run from scrimmage either.. you couldve driven a truck through that hole the o line opened up.. but also on the play priest wouldve been run down from behind after 20 yards.. Thoughts anyone?

Well, I believe I would trust the coaches. If you see Holmes out there, he has done a better job, and vice versa. I wouldn't get too excited about one 97-yard run (not that you have). I watched the highlights, and my grandmother could have run through the hole your Oline blasted out. If Priest has anything left in his tank, he is hard to beat as a RB.

    IMHO.

I understand you totally about trusting the coaches.. the only problem is that vermiel has very noticeably not been very accepting of LJ since he was drafted since he was Carls draft pick.. It was no secret that vermiel didnt want him

Well, the only thing is, I don't think you're left with much choice.

However, perhaps Vermeil will allow his will to win to override his personal vanity.

        Cross your fingers.

(Of course, I hope he makes the wrong choice. )

Preist would not have got caught on that run, and this is preists last year at garunteed #1.

He does still have one of the best stiff arms and the most patience and keeps moving his legs no matter how many ppl are there, BUT LJ is just big.

Hes strong, fast, and do just about everything he is asked, so he will start for us next year or for someone else(hopefully the first choice)

The problem with versqueal, is his apathy for his players....

...he treats them like they're family, so until priest either goes down with an injury, or the rest of the team starts a revolution, the chefs are stuck with him as the starter.

Good luck with the 0-4 start.....

well preist is preist,,,,he will get you yards as long as he's got the line in front of him,...i guess i would still start preist but put in lj in an increasing amount of plays and see who works out better

and your right no way does holmes take that to the house,,,,, he hasnt had a 50 yard run in how long? how about forty..or thirty

but where he shines is in the passing game, something i dont think LJ has down yet

When given the opportunity in the passing game last year LJ did have a 100 yard recieving game.. Priest Has broken two long runs that come to my mind first in his time in kc.. one was in denver when he got run down from behind and hurt his hip, the other was against indy in the playoffs when he got run down and stripped.. I can remember at the beginning of last year vermiel was asked what he wanted to see more of from his offense that season and he said longer runs from scrimmage.. thats becuz priest rarely has a burst over 15 yards.. and if he does get enough of an opening to get that far down the field he gets run down from behind

Personally, I don't like playing against Holmes. He is the second best back we go against , actuall I scratch that and put him above LT. This is based on previous years. He is harder to tackle than LT is and his line is better. So, ya put in your back up. Thats fine with me.

Hes not a better back yet. In time with that offensive line and that offense the kid will be a superstar. I watched him at penn st/ and this kid is electric. better than priest? not yet

Is he faster, quicker yes. I would still stick with the Priest. The chiefs still have a great oline which makes it easier for any back to run through.

If Holmes struggles early on you can still think about it, I wouldn't think about not letting him start, but I have to admint I haven't seen much of LJ tough.

Chiefs running game has been very good so far. I think both Holmes and LJ have very good YPC averages. Trent hasn't played an awful lot, so I can't say to much. I think he has thrown 2 questionable picks, but it's only preseas. The defense hasn't looked too great, better than last year though.
