  • This where we see how good the Chargers are

This from Adam Schefter, of NFL.com:

In the span of just over a month that started Oct. 10 and will end early next month, the Chargers will play four teams coming off bye weeks -- well-rested, well-prepared teams that have had two weeks to get ready for San Diego.

    It happened against Pittsburgh.

It will happen again Oct. 16 in Oakland, where the Chargers will play the well-rested Raiders.

It will happen again the next week, when San Diego plays at Philadelphia, where the Eagles will be coming off a bye week.

And then it will happen yet again Nov. 6, when the Chargers play in New York against the Jets, who will be coming off their bye week.

So no other team, including Oakland or New England, should be allowed to grumble about how difficult its schedule is. Nobody's, for a variety of reasons, is any tougher than San Diego's.

While on paper, ths looks good for Denver, I wonder. If San Diego actually goes 3-1 or 4-0 on that stretch, do they have to be considered the best team in the AFC? Regardless of Indianapolis's or Denver's record at that point? That is a brutal stretch of games for any team.

Everybody's gotta elevate from the norm...

San Diego has got a good team despite their record. I am surprised at Shefter's article though. I really don't think that any team other than Pitts and Phily are tough games. Bye week or not, I feel that they are capable of going 3-1 against those teams...the loss obviously against Pitt last Monday. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win 2 of those 4, and neither would I be very impressed with it. I would be impressed if they beat Philly in Philly though.
Patriotic dissent is a luxury of those protected by better men than they.

Well, I think 3 straight road games against teams coming off a bye is pretty tough myself. Especially since two of those are East Coast games.

Oops. the best they can do is 3-1, since they already lost to Pittsburgh. My bad.

I think it is entirely possible they lose all three games.

The Jets being the easiest of the 3, IMO.

I am not saying that it will be easy. But I think that they are capable of beating each of those teams. I just don't think that it is worthy of making a big deal about. Now if say their schedule was Pitts, @KC, @NY Giants, @Philly. That would be tough. Either way, here's to them going 1-4 at best.

Bye weeks are overrated. The Raiders and Jets are still pretty weak regardless.
You've got to know when to sack em...

Bye weeks are way overrated. Sometime you can come out of it fresh, sometimes you come out of it flat. It is really no different than how you come out of a game week. I would be happy if they did away with the bye..

Dang that is burtal. I don't know if they would be considered THE best team in the AFC but you could certainly make strong case for them.
