  • N.Y. Giants' Owner Wellington Mara Dies

Sorry but its sad - I know we lost at the last second and should not have (rant for another thread ) but still if I had to pick a situation to lose in - this would be one

"Before last Sunday's game against Denver, Coughlin told his players of Mara's condition. The Giants won on a touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Amani Toomer with 5 seconds left. In the locker room after the game, the players chanted "Duke, Duke, Duke" — Mara's nickname. Manning later said he had been told by one of Mara's grandsons that the owner awakened in time to see the winning play, then smiled and went back to sleep."

Well he did a lot for the development of the league and for New York in his lifetime.

At least he had a glimpse of the future for what his team will become.

    Rest in Peace.

It almosts makes losing that game bearable now. He saw his team win before passing. There's a reason for everything under the sun I always say.
        RIP Mr. Mara.

That is very sad to hear. I remember when Al Lerner died and how devestating that was. I know just how they feel
The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

The final game that he witnessed on this earth was a fitting tribute to a man that personafied the NFL, the game would not be what it is today without his guidance, his grace in dealing with issues of importance is what I will remember most.

Well said. It does make the loss more bearable knowing that one of the pioneers saw a great game end in such thrilling fashion for him and the NY fans. Now let's go get Philly and do him another favor.

He must have been shocked that the Giants won.

Thanks guys, you guys are a real classy bunch of fans. As a giants fan, it feels good to see other classy fans feel our loss. Good luck with the rest of your season and smash the Eagles.

Maybe the Broncos lost for a reason so that he could se his team win before passing on.
