  • New NFL team?

As you all know, there is a plan to possibly put a team into the LA Anahiem area. That would move the number of total teams to 33. If that were to happen, it would make the schudule tougher to make and it would mean one division would have 5 teams instead of 4. I think it is stupid to have 33 teams. What do you think.

I thought they were just shifting one team to the LA area not make a brand new team

i thought that as well, wouldnt it mess everything in the league up? as far as scheduling and such, 16 in one Conference and then 17 in another? that wouldnt work too well. i would imagine if they are going to add new teams they will want to keep it even

Getting a team back in the area does not appear imminent. No team has been designated, nor has a decision been made whether Los Angeles or Anaheim would get an existing franchise which relocates or an expansion team.
          From NFL.com

It looks like it could be a new team but I think the Chargers. I heard that they were looking for a new stadium. I heard that.

as far as the whole Chargers issue and them wanting a new stadium, that is old news..i doubt San Diego would let them go....last thing we need is a team like NO moving to Cali..it wouldnt be right because look at the amount of teams they have as it is

My guess would be the Saints, since they have the marketable Reggie Bush and, probably, a good team in a year or two. The Raiders and Chargers are also suspects.

I also know that the Governator wanted 2 more teams for California, so maybe they will bump it up to 34?

Some people forget that there for I think three seasons the NFL had 31 teams, from 1999 to 2002 after the new Browns franchize came into the league and before the Texans did.

I cant provide a link, but a couple of months back I recall reading an article on NFL.com where Tagliabue commented on the Governator's comments about wanting two new teams for Cali, he basically stated that its a possibility for the future but for now the NFL is concerned only with getting one into the LA/Anaheim region.

If we do go for two new teams I would guess that the second will go somewhere else other then California.

I know that Las Vegas NV, Portland OR and San Antonio TX have all been trying to get an NFL franchize...expanding to Mexico or maybe Toronto, Canada could be a possibility too.

I have never heard of that team. I have heard of the Cleveland Browns. But never of a New Browns.

There are no 'New' or 'Old' Browns teams. There is just the Browns. Nothing new or old about it. Now if the city of Baltimore had been allowed to keep the history of the browns and the color. Then yes there would be.

The 'Old' Browns would be the Cleveland Browns
                      and
The 'New' Browns would be the Baltimore Browns.

But that did not happen. The team in Baltimore is a brand new team that began in 1996.

The Cleveland Browns began in 1946 and then had a 3 year hiatus following the 1995 season.

The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

                        I hope not.

More teams means the talent level becomes diluted, which in terms means the quality of the game goes down.

32 is set. Hopefully the NFL will understand this and leave things how they are.

I disagree, I don't think the Saints budge after Katrina. I thought that before it happened, but not since then...

Tags and the rest of the owners have decided there will be NO new expansion team(s) added to the 32 set already in place. meaning, if/when a team comes to LA/Anaheim it will be an existing franchise that relocates.

my guess Bills, Vikings, and outside chance Raiders. Saints would be logical, but Tags has pledged to keep them there and is a good move for that area the fans in N.O.

although the Chargers were originally from LA i dont see them moving back.

I doubt Vikings. However, Bills could happen.
