  • Kelly Herndon Update

Maybe no one cares but one of my favorite all time Broncos is solidifying his role as starting corner for the Seahawks. guess they realised that had they started him they would have been champions. Props to the kid for once again proving his worth.
Only a fool allows another's opinion to anger him to the point of hurling insults.

I loved/love the way this guy plays ball....he goes all out every play trying to make something happen. GL w/ Seattle again!

What? Because Herndon wasn't starting the 'Hawks lost? What?

I haven't seen a report that names him as the starter, but Kelly Jennings was drafted as a ready-made no. 2. Herndon will have to fight Jennings and Babineaux off if he wants to start.

EXCERPT [The rest of the Article is irrelevant]
Seahawks' first pick Jennings agrees, reports late to camp

By GREGG BELL, AP Sports Writer
        July 30, 2006

Veteran Kelly Herndon is his competition at left cornerback, opposite Marcus Trufant. During Sunday afternoon's non-contact drills, Jennings was behind Herndon at left corner. In the nickel defense, Jennings was at corner and Herndon was inside as the extra defensive back.

"It's hard to break in as a rookie," coach Mike Holmgren said of what is widely regarded as the NFL's toughest position. "Certainly we're going to go with the player that earns it. We're not going to hand it to him. So he's got to earn it.

"I'm glad he's in ... we're counting on him this year."

Kelly hasnt won the job yet but he is close and knowing this guy he WILL NOT get beaten out buy a rookie. This guy is one of the top 20 corners in the league and maybe even top ten depends omn who you're asking.

PS. Dominique Foxworth will beat out Darrent for the starting job. Mark my words.

          (EDITED) 3 amazing comments....

1: "Kelly Herndon, my all time favorite Bronco."

2: "Seahawks would have won the Superbowl had they started Kelly Herndon."

3: "Kelly Herndon is a top 10 CB."

All are completely and utterly laughable.

Read carefully. ONE of my favorite all time Broncos. (Yeah I said It)
And this isnt the first time that i've sais that Seattle would have won it all had Kells been on the field more.

I don't care if it's the first or last time that sentence has been spoken, it's ridiculous, past present or future.

And as far as being "one of you rfavorites"...

              WHY?!?!?!

He did diddly squat when he was a Bronco.

Actually no, he DID consistently get beat so bad he lost his job to the now eighty-sixed Lenny Walls for crying out loud. (Which hindsight says was a mistake as Kelly was the MARGAINALLY better player.)

With last year's draft, who's to say Kelly wouldn't be the one run out of town (had he stayed) now that Foxy and D-Will are here.

Of all people to have a crush on... good greief!

                You must be kidding.

1.) As BFC and WA have said its laughable to think the only reason the Seahawks lost is because Herndon wasn't the starter.

2.) You're reading way to much into the excerpt about Herndon. He's running as the NB which right where most people would expect him to be.

3.) Like Shanahan Holmgren doesn't just hand a job over to anyone but from what I read Holmgren wants Jennings to beat out Herndon.

4.) You're right otherwise I don't care. If Herndon had stayed he would ended up in the same perdicament tha Walls was in. He would have been shown the door. He's nowhere near the same quality cb as D-Will and Foxworth.

Maybe Aija doesn't realize that Herndon couldn't beat a one legged man in a 40 yard dash.

Herndon was always a solid, better than average nickel. His coverage skills sometimes got the best of him but other than that I think he is one of the better cb's that we had during the Pre-Champ years. I wish we would have kept him instead of Lenny "i hurt myself" Walls.

Whenever Herndon got a chance to start hse shined. Remember that game against the Colts? Stokely had 1 catch (if so many) Herndon carried that team on his back beforethe weight got to be too much for him. He had a game saving (at the time it looked that way) pick in the end zone to give some hope to the team. The kid can flat out play and he will prove it again this year. I love the new young corners and all things happen for a reason but Kells is no scrub.

If Herndon's crowning moment was keeping a #3 receiver to 1 catch... doesn't that say something?

                        Like, oh I don't know....

HE STUNK IT UP WHILE HE WAS HERE!

                        Hence his exit.

Yes, anyone in their right mind (using hindsight) would rather have him than Walls, but like me and TX already said, HE CAN'T HANG WITH FOXY OR D-WILL.
