Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Ravens O-coordinator Fassel fired, Billick to call plays
BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick has fired offensive coordinator Jim Fassel and will take over the play-calling for the Ravens offense. Offensive Content
How the Ravens' offense compares to the rest of the NFL:
Code:
• Points per game: 18th (18.3)
• Yards per game: 28th (271.7)
• Yards per play: T29th (4.4)
• Third-down efficiency: 22nd (33 of 90)
Billick said it was difficult for him to let Fassel go, saying he has been "a valuable and loyal coach to me." However, he added, "clearly, in order for us to expand on our 4-2 start we have to have more offensive productivity."
"There was no single incident, no single episode, nothing specific that brought about this change," Billick said of the decision to dismiss Fassel, a close friend. "Something dramatic needed to be done."
But he would not go into what finally sparked the decision.
"It serves no purpose to go back and revist any particular reason why this has been brought about so I'm not gonna do it," Billick said.
Fassel told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the change had been brewing for some time. He said the question of who was running the offense -- Fassel or Billick, himself a former offensive coordinator -- contributed to its lack of success.
"Everywhere I've been, I've gotten the offense up and running pretty fast," Fassel said. "It didn't happen here and the reason I believe is that I wasn't in full control."
"This has been building for quite a while and finally I went to Brian last week and said, 'Look Brian, you've always run a good offense and I've always run a good offense, but the bottom line is somebody has to be in charge. Somebody has to pull the trigger and it can't be two guys,' " Fassel said.
"Brian was very good about this. He told me, 'You're right. My job's on the line and the only way I can deal with it is if I take control of the offense.'"
When asked whether the Ravens were running his offense, Fassel said "There's a big dfference between being a play-caller and running your offense. Calling plays doesn't matter, it's who's structuring that thing."
Fassel was in his second year as the Ravens' offensive coordinator after serving a season with the team as a senior consultant to the offense.
He previously served as head coach of the New York Giants from 1997 to 2003, guiding the Giants to two NFC East titles, a conference championship, an appearance in the Super Bowl and a wild-card playoff berth.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen and The Associated Press contributed to this story.
One other note -- Mort said Fassel was under contract through 2008.

 150 lbs of pure steel and sex appeal.
I think it is safe to say that now the offense the Ravens had is going to fall. Billick is no offensive mind - Fassel is. Billick is just an egomaniac and he has just set up his own failure
Im not sure If I am correct, but I thought he was the o coordinator for Arizona when plummer was there....
Prior to becoming New York Giants head coach, Fassel served as an assistant coach with the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and Oakland Raiders.

Shanny is loyal to a fault. Dinger isn't just a former Broncos coach, he's also a college friend of Shanny's.
Fassell did have some of his best success in Denver before, when he was Elway's OC, but that was a special relationship. Fassel was also the coach at Stanford who recruited Elway.
He was in AZ for one season, but it was before Jake got there. He worked with Boomer Esiason.
He was fired by the Ravens. What do you all think of him? On option for Denver?
Heck no to Fassel coming to Denver. They fired him because as offensive coordinator of the Ravens, because their offense ranks 28th in total offense and have scored 16 points or fewer in half their games.
“Clearly, in order for us to expand on our 4-2 start, we have to have more offensive productivity,” said Baltimore coach Brian Billick, who will assume Fassel’s duties.
Sounds exactly like the same problems the Broncos are having. Good winning record but poor production from the offense!
