Kubiak benched Carr at the start of the second half and I'm still in disbelief. Look at my signature to see how well Carr has been playing before this game. I trust that Kubiak did the best for the team, but I don't know. He didn't hesitate to pull him out of the game, but he has to understand what that's going to do to Carr's mentality.

Originally posted by NightwingHe was benched, trust me. He could come back in now, instead he's just forced to watch from the sideline. I believe it's for this game only but if he was shaken up, I think he's fine to play now.
NFL Network said he got beat up pretty bad and probably would not return this game.
They wouldn't BENCH david carr.Administrator

Carr was BENCHED. All the commentators are saying it, everyone on our message board is talking about it. Take one look at Carr on the side line. He's not injured, he's upset with himself and the decision. I guarentee it.Power is not revealed by striking hard or often, but by striking true.

I watched the game, and I believe Carr was benched indeed.
But what do you expect when you turn the ball over 3 times?
Carr has been having a good season, but he needs to learn to take care of the ball, which is something he has struggled with in the past.
Kubiak will not stand for that, and I'm sure he'll explain to Carr, that he has total faith in Carr, but was sending a message along the lines of, "but if you don't take care of the ball, you won't play".
I don't think it will hurt Carr's psyche in the least, because Kubiack will explain to him what is expected, and Carr should understand why he was pulled.
Sometimes it's the best thing for a player of Carr's ability, and I'm sure Kubiack will re-itterate at first chance that Carr is his QB.👍 1Comment

Kubiak immediately said after the game that Carr is going to be the starting QB against the Giants. I think it was him just trying to send a message and get David settled down. I hope it works. Personally, while I support Carr, I want the person in the game that gives my team the best chance to win. Nothing more, nothing less.Power is not revealed by striking hard or often, but by striking true.

I didn't see the game, but I was surprised as hell to see that Carr got benched.
Not to mention that killed my fantasy team since I started him.
I understand what Kubiak was trying to do, but shouldn't he keep Carr in there even if he faces some adversity? Every game isn't going to be a stroll through the meadow. I think pulling Carr today will have him looking over his shoulder in the future if things go wrong. :2cents:sigpic

David Carr is the best man for the job, and the Texans need him if they are going to continue to progress as a franchise, and he is capable of elevating them.
Carr just needs to understand that great players protect the fumble, and I know it's not always his fault, but he might stop twice and focus on protection next time in a panicky situation.
He'll get it, and the organization will get it. The one thing that separates the marginal franchises and the successful ones is attitude, and train of thought.
It will just take some time.Comment

I don't see the reasoning behind the pull of Carr. QBs have bad games, and Carr starts doing bad and is benched? You're a bad team with a very good QB who has an off game, and he's sent to the sideline? Hell, Roethlisberger threw 4 and he played the whole game through. I don't see the message it's sending, no QB is perfect every game.
Sorry, you can not add yourself to your own ignore list.Comment

They were moving the ball very well, and it was Carr turning the ball over that kept Houston from really taking control of the game.
Carr is a good young QB who will continue to get better, but he needs to do a better job of seeing the blitz coming, feeling the pressure, and protecting the ball.
It's been a common theme all year for Houston, and I'm sure Kubiack had enough of it and felt he needed to make a statement.
Turned out to be a good call, because Sage got them back in it and almost won the game for them.Comment
