This path got us SP. I am good with it so far.
This suggests that Hackett was only fired because Wilson can’t be fired.

If everything thing was Hackett’s fault, as many seem to believe, then he would have been fired even if Lock were still the quarterback.

He promised a wide zone running attack and didn’t produce one. Why is that? I suspect Me3 had a whole lot to do with it.

That may be what you suggest but not me.

I was suggesting if we had a Qb who failed under other offensives minds then imo there is a legit chance people think Hackett was not the problem in Denver as the GM hired his guy.

Since we had a qb who was considered elite before Hackett came along it was easier to see Hackett was the problem.

Like we are already seeing with SP one of the reasons Me3 is even an issue is because Hackett let it in the building. I am assuming Me3 means all the other people that comes with RW.
Get ourself up, learn what we can and keep moving forward.

        Again, absolving Wilson of blame.

I personally don’t do that. I blame everyone.

We don’t know if Payton would keep Wilson, if getting rid of him were an option.

SP took the job knowing it wasn't an option.

Probably no way to know. As the new HC, his QB is RW. SP knows what he's doing and, at this point, he knows exactly what happened in 2022. So far, he seems to think fielding an effective offense with RW is doable. We'll just wait to see what happens when play begins.

At the same time though lee, you're absolving Derek Carr. McDaniels hasn't done much as a HC, but he's a proven offensive coordinator. More proven than Hackett may ever be, and teams continue pursuing him for their head coach vacancies. How does Carr get a pass while having the league's leading rusher and an elite receiver? If Wilson needs a strong run game and separation receiver to be successful, why would we want Derek Carr, who failed in that exact situation?

Before, when Carr presumably had a subpar offense, everything good that he did was blown out of proportion. When he failed, the team took the blame. Now, Josh McDaniels is the scapegoat. Is it possible that Carr panicking in the pocket and not attempting the throws that McDaniels wants in his offense is the main reason they're moving on from him?

I’m not absolving Carr. He is however, absolutely an upgrade to Drew Lock, which Wilson is also. The point of what I am saying is that the Broncos missed out on a chance to upgrade at a much cheaper cost. It’s understandable because of course they aren’t fortune tellers. However, they also didn’t have to extend Wilson either. Maybe they would be in a position to decide whether to stick with Wilson or shift to someone else, if they had just exercised patience on the extension.

Fair enough. I misinterpreted exactly what you were saying there. I know you've never been sold on Wilson as an "elite" QB. I'm not one to judge them though, because I expected more from Russ. He has a lot of football to play yet, so we'll see how it goes under Payton.

Before the Wilson trade, I think the best move would've been to draft Pickett. I wouldn't have liked the idea of spending another year waiting for DL just to get to Derek Carr.

Did they change the “legal” tampering rules?

Carr was released. He, and all players who are released, are allowed to sign immediately. Free agency and the rules that go with it is only for players who's contract is about to expire on the new league year date.

                            Okay thanks. That makes sense.
