  • Which college has best NFL RB alumni?

Which college has produced the most impressive list of RBs in the NFL? Admittedly, there are some names that could have been and should have been on there but with limited space there were some omissions. Plus, its possible that a few guys (like Reggie Bush) may not belong on there but Im acknowledge some idea of potential.

Larry Johnson went to Penn State. But he is just the product of a good system, so does that count???

Of course he counts. He just sliped my mind. Actually, Larry Johnson and Franco Harris can easily be considered. Harris may end up having the better career but I dont think he was ever as good as what Johnson has been the last couple of years. But yeah, it all counts. Take Emmitt Smith for example. You often hear about how good Dallas' Oline was but when Smiths backups played its not like they ran wild like Emmitt did.

You mean the Lars Tate that played for Tampa from 88-89 and for Chicago in 1990? I didn't consider him enough of a pro to put him in there.

The same could be said about a couple of the guys you listed...but none of those guys ever did a flip over the pile on a long td run. Seriously, there was a play where Tate went up and over the pile and ended up landing on his feet before running for a long touch down. Crazy run.

Its kind of crazy when you look at the talent Florida has produced at RB when you consider that people think its a passing school. Their QBs are nowhere close to their RBs. They have two Heisman winners (both QB) and yet, they have been more talented at RB. In fact, Grossman is probably their best NFL QB and he is a WIP.

Well it's easy to say Florida produces great running backs when the NFL's all time leading rusher went there. But not including him, who else is worth mentioning? Errict Rhett? Fred Taylor? Not exactly all-time greats. I guess some of Georgia's guys aren't really worth mentioning, but clearly a longer line of NFL RB's than Florida.

Fred Taylor is approaching 10,000 yards. Neal Anderson had over 6,000 yards and Errict Rhett had 2 1000 yard seasons.

Herschel would've had many more yards had he not gone to the USFL, and his all purpose yards were amazing. Davis got injured (that pains me to think about). Seems kinda low for Hearst, but he did blow his knee out twice. It seemed that guy was constantly turning out 1000 yard seasons.

And like I said, not including Emmitt Smith, the talent doesn't measure up. Put Emmitt's stats up against those from any other school and you'll see a mismatch.

Edit: You got Hearst's yardage wrong. He had 7966 yards. Also, Herschel had over 5,500 yards rushing in his three seasons in the USFL.
