  • Culpepper to Buc's

(dont know if thread has alredy been made)

TAMPA, Fla. (July 19, 2007) -- Free-agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper met with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two days after being released by the Miami Dolphins.

The Bucs declined to disclose details of the meeting, which occurred in Tampa - though not at the team's training facility.

Miami unsuccessfully tried for weeks to trade the 30-year-old former Pro Bowl quarterback who was coming off major surgery to rebuild his right knee when the Dolphins acquired him before last season.

Culpepper was cleared to start last season's opener with the Dolphins, but struggled with his mobility and was sacked 21 times in the first four games. The team shut him down so he could continue rehabbing and eventually placed him on injured reserve.

When Miami traded for Trent Green six weeks ago, Culpepper became expendable.

On paper, the Bucs do not appear to have a need for Culpepper. The team already has five quarterbacks on the roster, including Jeff Garcia, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski and Jake Plummer, although Plummer has said he is retiring.

easy for us to say when we don't see their training camps. WHen you are trying to build a successful season, you want to put the absolute best player on the field. Sometimes you are in a situation where you don't know who that best player is, and need multible choices in order to get the best possible to you.

maybe they figure they've loaded up on trade bait. i can almost guarentee they don't end the season with all these guys on the roster.

pretty much every year a qb goes down to injury, and the bucs figure maybe they can take advantage and sucker a team when they're desperate.
Orange Crush Fantasy League sign ups. All the cool kids are doing it.

Rivers has probably now the fastest release in the NFL that Favre is retired. - riversOWNSdonks
Rivers has the potential to be better than Brady or any QB ever - riversOWNSdonks

Or to screw the Falcons into just having Harrington to rely on. If he goes down, I shall laugh my head off at the Falcons go crawling to the Buccs for a QB
