  • Chad Jackson...

...could be cut according to Adam Schefter

Chad Jackson, WR, New England Patriots: He could wind up being cut as easily as landing on the PUP.

I know threads created about released players who we should pick up are common, but this guy would really be worth picking up. Ultimately, I think the Patriots will put him on PUP and not cut him because they invested too much in him by trading up and Moss and Stallworth may not even be back next year. Schefter is one of the most reliable sources though so it's worth paying attention to.

He likely won't be playing this year either way. The patriots will most likely put him on IR for the season.

There is no way they cut their number two pick from just a year ago unless he had career ending injury.

He was a 2nd round pick, who they traded up (one spot ahead of us) to draft. I know it's odd, but remember that New England is deep at WR, and this stuff is coming from Schefter, so it has merit.

I realized my mistake and I fixed. Nevertheless the Pasties still have quite a bit invested in him I just can't them cutting unless injury is a career ender.

It's too early to call him a failure after only one season. He has the potential to be very good, despite his UF lineage, so to speak.

I can't think of any Universities that are wide receiver factories for the N.F.L.

Nevertheless the bigger picture is that he's had trouble staying healthy. As far as I know Denver have any interest in him last year.

Not even worth the time at this point. He is hurt we need guys that can play this year. With Brandon Marshall starting to live up to his potential. and Javon being the number one. and with a solid number three option in Brandon Stokely. its not worth the roster spot. We have a few holes on this team that i think it would be more wise to fill for the team THIS year. The guy has played little football in the alst couple of years. He will be picked up just not by denver..

I wasnt a bifg fan of drafting him last year in the first and i am glad we didnt.

Any team with Randy Moss should think long and hard before cutting WR's....

Even if he wasn't hurt and the Pasties cut him now he would be useless to us. There is no way he could pick up enough the offense to make any kind of contribution.

I agree with TX, it'd be like the whole David Terrell thing. Pick up a guy, have him sit the whole year and learn the system.

Couldn't be more happy that New England decided to trade up ahead of us and get Jackson, and we landed Walker. I don't think we could have asked for a better scenario.

He will be scooped up rather quickly if he does get axed. He hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do in this league, and some team desperate for a receiver like the Titans is a potential landing spot for him.

Dream, you're right to compare acquiring him to acquiring Terrell but the difference is Terrell had several seasons to become the player he was supposed to be in Chicago. Jackson has had 1 season, and has battled injury that season as well as the entire offseason.

New England has some ridiculous depth at WR though with Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Jackson, Caldwell, Gaffney, Kelley Washington, Troy Brown, etc. Honestly anyone of those guys would be a welcome addition to the Broncos IMO. I don't really like our WR depth, but that's just me.

                            Imo...

Shanahan is always going to keep the end-of-the-roster scrubs like Brian Clark instead of trying to develope players like Reggie Williams and Chad Jackson.

The David Terrell experiment was the exception to the rule.....

I'm not so sure about their depth being as great as some think. They only have one guy who has shown he can consistently beat a solid corner one on one in the last couple seasons. And, that guy get's hurt easily. When you look at Moss, who can say what exactly they will get. All of those other guys are consistent, at best, in the slot. Chad Jackson has a lot of potential, and if they were smart, would be utilized as a deep threat this year.
