  • Brandon Flowers practices, questionable vs. Chiefs

SAN DIEGO -- For the first time this week, San Diego Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers was a limited participant in practice on Friday, an indication that his groin injury improved and he could play on Sunday against his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Flowers is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, which gives him a 50-50 chance of playing. Flowers missed a game the Week 2 game against Seattle with the same groin injury.

Flowers said he went through individual drills on Friday, and it will likely be a game-time decision on whether he plays.

"My previous years I went all the way to Sunday without no practice at all," said Flowers, who played with a knee issue last season in Kansas City. "I just wanted to go out there and move around a little bit and see how I feel. Just keep it simple. Do the stuff I’m used to doing and went out there and went through it."

The Chargers also received good news along the offensive line, with center Rich Ohrnberger returning to practice after taking a rest day on Thursday. Ohnrberger, who has been nursing a lingering back injury, was a full participant and is probable for Sunday.

Outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring), linebacker Manti Te'o and running backs Ryan Mathews (knee) and Donald Brown (concussion) did not practice at all this week.

Te'o, Mathews and Brown have been ruled out for Sunday. Attaochu is listed as doubtful.
Mathews, who suffered an MCL knee sprain in a Week 2 contest against Seattle, has progressed to the point where he’s running on the field.

Outside linebacker Dwight Freeney (knee) was a new addition to the injury report on Friday. Freeney was a limited participant in practice, and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Along with Flowers and Freeney, cornerback Jason Verrett (shoulder) and outside linebacker Cordarro Law (ankle) are listed as questionable. Verrett and Law were limited participants in practice on Friday.
