  • Chargers to play a home game away from LA in coming years

Not many Charger fans showing up for Charger homes games so I guess they taking their home games else where.

As an important member of our family, we strive to ensure that you receive the very latest updates, news and information about your Los Angeles Chargers.

One piece of information that we want you to be the first to know about, prior to its public announcement tomorrow, is that the Chargers will be traveling abroad during the 2018 and 2019 seasons and will host one international regular season home game each year.

The location of the 2018 game will be announced tomorrow, and it will count as one of the Chargers ten 2018 home games. Each of the nine remaining home games in 2018 will be played at StubHub Center. While the location of the 2019 game will not be announced in the immediate future, the 2019 home schedule at StubHub Center will also consist of nine games.

In the next few weeks, current Season Ticket Members will receive renewal information reflecting a 9-game season ticket package. Wait List Members will also soon be receiving information about season ticket membership for the 2018 season at StubHub Center.

While information on how to purchase game tickets and potential travel packages is still to come, rest assured, we will contact you once more details surrounding this exciting opportunity are available. Additionally, we invite you to check back at www.chargers.com for the latest information about our 2018 and 2019 regular season trips abroad.

The NFL had to know this was going to happen. It should have chosen the Raiders, who have lots of f ans in the Los Angeles area. People still call them the San Diego Chargers.

I don't know what's funnier, the Chargers or the NFL using them as a crash test dummy in foreign markets.

I don't see the funny part about home attendance - or am I missing something? It's an announcement that they will be travelling internationally, as in London and Mexico City - unless another city is announced. One team has to be the home team and the other has to be the away team, it's no different for any other team that has traveled, right?

Sending the Chargers abroad as NFL ambassadors is the funny part.

England, Mexico, behold - he is what crazy looks like:

It is sad they doing this to the Chargers two years in a row. I understand the business reason to be doing these games but the cost is a home game and the teams should be sharing this cost equally. The same team losing a home game two years in a row is definitely questionable.

The StubHub center is the best place I have ever seen a NFL or College game football game. Only Arena League seats get better imo. Every seat is equal to good seats in other stadiums. I been told every seat in the Stubhub is better then every seat in the Rams home. Plan on seeing a game there next year so will let you know.

I spent a bit and sniped some really good seats behind the Broncos bench this year. Besides the results the experience was fantastic. Never been so close to NFL players and coaches during a game before and I been getting the lower level close seats at every sporting event since the 90s.

Only experience I have had that was better was when I was sitting right behind the Avalanche players at the Staple Center. That was pretty amazing.

Yes that would be the 27,000 attendance capacity allows for a much more intimate and up close personal experience. Much like our Rugby League stadiums here in Australia. NFL owners would never play out of stub hub long term though due to the massive revenue loss they would make with its small capacity.

Agreed.San Diego has more supporters in Vegas than LA. Raiders could of been LA while SD went to Vegas. The raiders do fit well into the dodgy vegas scene though too.

How many premier teams have given up home games to host an international game? And how many of the crap teams that they send to London or elsewhere have given up home games 2 years in a row? Seems like they send the teams that need more fans to do those games. It's like a gimmick to get people to pay attention because they're playing where they dont normally play.

I never understand the resentment to having a few games played overseas every year, and to honest think it is a very poor reflection of that persons character and selfishness.

I live in England and follow the NFL. People like me watch a lot of NFL and stay up crazy hours watching games on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday nights....... they often finish around 4.30 in the morning and we get up for work around 7.

If we travel to watch a game (I have been to Denver 3 times) it is a big financial commitment. So our commitment to the league and our teams have to be a lot higher then most people living in the states.

We are not talking about getting the SB or even a playoff game, and certainly not a franchise. We have been given 3 games out of 256, so is that really such a crime ?

I would like to think if I was living in the states I would not be so petty as to complain about a few games a year.
