It's very much appreciated
There are many posts I'd like to give a cp to, I must reload, it'll take a few days but you all have one coming.
One thing people need to understand. The Denver Broncos biggest rival is the Raiders, not Dead Bolts or Chiefs.
On Sunday the two can butt heads, but before and after the game, it's all respect.
Al was not just Al Davis, he was the Al era that changed the NFL, made a name for himself. A Hall of Fame owner.sigpic

Thank you for making this league so great. You will truly be missed you were a icon and a legend. True pioneer of professional sports. Without Al, NFL would not be what it is today. One last time for great Al Davis.
"Just Win, Baby."

i saw a tweet that said it best, he got the raiders job in 62 and then it was 40 years of excellence
he faltered and was kind of crazy at the end , but everyone knows without him, the game wouldn't have grown to the heights that it hassigpic

This league will not be the same without him. He was viewed as the "bad guy", but that's just because he did so much to make this league.
Rest in peace, Mr. Davis. You earned it.*2011 BCMB Locker Room Division I League Champion**Voted; 2013 & 2015 BCMBA's Scariest Mod**Voted; 2014 BCMBA's Best Avi and Most Friendly*

With that being said...I was shocked when I read the news this morning. For some reason I thought Al Davis would be with us for years to come.My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends/family and Raider fans.
Together him and Lamar Hunt played a huge role in what we see today in the NFL.
RIP Mr.Davis!

It was easy to poke fun of the guy, but the truth is, he has probably done more for the game than 99.9% of any other person. The guy was ahead of his time, and the NFL wouldn't be what it is today without him. He also did MANY under the radar contributions to public and personal causes that he never got national credit for. He was a good guy and regardless of the jokes, alot of things won't be as good as they were with him around.

RIP Al Davis
Was anyone else shocked at this? I haven't heard a word about him being sick. Can the raiders still be easily the most hateable team in football without him being behind it all?

If you'd seen any pictures of him lately he was looking very bad.

R.I.P. AL DAVIS
I did not think Al Davis had it in him to die. He has been looking bad for awhile. As a Die Hard Chiefs fan I still have to say thanks for his contributions to the NFL. Hunt & Davis were two of the best owners of our time!!!
I only wonder how this will effect the Raiders. I have no idea who is in line for the Raider throne, hopefully they make the Raiders as competive as Davis tried every year! The raiders are our #1 rival, even though I hope we beat them down every time we meet, I hope its as memorable as it always is, even though their fearless leader is gone (AL DAVIS). Rest In Peace Mr. Davis! Thanks

This isn't meant to be hatefull , but I always said the last few years that the raiders wouldn't be good again untill al davis dies cuz he was running them horribly wrong . Firing coaches every other game.. RIP mr davis.. PS now im afraid the raiders just got a bit scarier.

I left this post on another part of our forum where the topic is being discussed. Not that I think I have to, but just so that it's clear, here it is for this thread:
We treat others the way we want them to treat us. We would absolutely not allow any disparaging comments towards Bowlen on an unfortunate day that he passed.
We still to this day protect the Barrel Man.
Likewise, there are certain things that are only meant to start fights, even when directed at Raider fans. Mocking the death of their owner is one of those things.
It won't be tolerated, even in the smack section. Not today, and probably not ever.
Not that we've had to remove any posts. We haven't. Not a single one.
I am amazed and impressed, and not for the first time, at our fans. The ability to be gracious, sensitive to others, and empathetic of loss is an uncommon trait.
We haven't had to remove even one post today. I doubt that will change.
But if it does, please let us know.

Originally posted by BroncoFanBoy View PostSome may think that "the Raiders will be better off when Al steps down or passes". Well, think of it this way. Davis loved the Raiders, and didn't want to give up on them. He tried his best to improve the team. Most people wouldn't be managing an NFL team at that age. Usually, they'd retire by then. But Al was different. He made them great once, and he wanted to do it again. He actually wasn't doing too bad these last 2 years. (Remember, I hate the Raiders, but this is true)
May Al Davis RIP. The NFL won't be the same without him.
Those are just plain dumb decisions, the Raiders start to get better soon

I'm not a Bronco either, I am from RAIDERFORUM.NET and I am The one. Long story why I am registered just as TIBERIUS stated, however it does not matter right now. I just want to say THANKS to all you Bronco Fans for the respect you are showing. It is truly a sad day in Raider Nation. I never thought I would get hit this hard when he passed, but i feel as if a part of my Raider side has left with him.
Thanks once again, and for you Denver fans this weekend..."JUST WIN BABY"...

Lots of lurkers crawling out of the woodworkI've been over at Raidersfans.net once in awhile to see what's up. I'm not registered, but as I said, I root for the team when it doesn't effect the Broncos. I stick with our division as long as it's either the Raiders or Broncos, not necessarily in that order
. Pretty knowledgeable folks over there about football in general...
One thing that I really hope remains true for the "Al Davisless" Raiders (still can't believe it) is that they STAY the Raiders. One thing that was always apparent was that Al Davis ran his team like a family business. In this day and age, that's a rarity. I REALLY hope the Raiders don't become all "corporate", because that would kind of fly in the face of the whole spirit of what Al Davis created as a brand. I know quite a few Raider fans were wanting Al Davis to give up the reins, not in this way of course, but I hope that thought doesn't come back to haunt them. We're all human, we know days like this come, but...
After doing a little lurking, it's clear that Al Davis was a man who understood what loyalty and compassion means. Lots of stories that I personally never heard of. It shouldn't surprise me, though, ie. Barrel Man. Ride the autumn wind, Al...Godspeed.Last edited by OrangeCrushem; 10-08-2011, 07:43 PM.
