  • I would absolutely love Alex Smith - for the past 10 years he has won close to 70% of his starts.
He knows KC and how to game plan. He has a chip on his shoulder and I am sure that he go in 100% to beat KC
He is a great mentor and player, and what is mode in terms of maybe developing Lock...

I would love to see Alex Smith here to show Lock how to be professional, bring a knowledge of the Chiefs and the innate ability to bring wins.
Lock should have the ability to be a great starter - but mentally he seem to need a kick in a certain place....

Except in tune with the reason Tom Brady is the best ever and QBs that like money and individual praise more than winning are sitting at home watching SuperBowls.

It is quite amazing that Brady was playing for keeps even when he was a young lad that did not have generous 1st round salary...

With Lock and any other young QB it is the pros and cons, can the cons be fixed fully or partially and what is the trajectory of the development. Many years back before the Steelers game you wrote an excellent post on Tebow (linked below) - a QB inviteing much of the same discussions as Lock - something...

The reason to focus on the 4-12 is that the main argument from you and others is that you can pay an insanely expensive contract and give up a franchise altering amount of picks for a player that you beleive will turn Broncos into a SB candidate. Why in the world would that happen given that we have...

  • It is not that strange that there are a lot of first round QBs both at the top and bottom.
We can discuss what success and failure looks like when drafting QBs. First round QBs fail a lot but a lot less than 2nd, 3rd.....rounders.
Tom Brady has blurred the picture a lot, but generally the...

    We are going in circles - you respond to a post that focusses on the following claim;
My big question from all of this would be, why are you so lenient on these draft picks but you don’t want the all time leader in completion percentage, the youngest QB to ever complete 70% of his passes, and...

It is nothing but excuses. Players fumble - even on the 2 yard line.
    Receivers drop passes.
    Defenses fail to stop opponents...
The devotion to an other teams QB and the slew of excuses are really amazing.
Drew Lock had blown leads, and Flacco had a ton, Keenum had them.... Every...

    You got things backwards.
It is not my job to tell you why the statistics that you base your arguments on does not translate to team success. I have not mentioned Watson's sack rate - I have mentioned that team success is the only measure that you are seeking by pursuing someone other than Drew...

I didn't answer the Deshaun Watson part of your post which is relevant.

You don't want to use W/L in evaluating Watson, yet CHFF's Real QB Rating showed a 88% correlation to victory between the complete QB performance of two opposing QBs over several seasons. Other players individually...

Yes - you are right that Mahomes does not do things on his own and once his contract kicks into cap hell he will be a lot worse, but KC still don't have to give up draft capital. Many fair points on Broncos players - BUT - you don't draft later players with the benefit of 20:20 hindsight, so no you...

I am sure you are right about Lock never being good enough for us to compete for championships, and you might very well be right that Mahomes is so special that he might overcome the handicap of his pay. As Al Wilson says Mahomes plays at a higher level than any QB he has ever seen, but there is a world...

You do know what MYTH means - don't you?
Historical fact is not myth - you might not think it is a precusor, but then you are convinced that if we just get that 4-12 QB, then we are going to be winners, in spite of draft capital, money for FAs and for a QB that has a history of wanting out if...

No offcause Lock is supremely talented, as is every QB that is drafted and some that are not. It is a tough business when the best of the best stay around spanning 2-3 decades.
It is not about whether Lock has skills, it is about if he is good enough to have success long term in a league that...

Agreed - it is more positive to talk about what Lock needs to do to get better.
I would have liked to hear stories about Lock working out with ex. Tom House, or about his off season program for getting better. This should be the time where we hear those things. Are there any stories out there...

Frankly, I would rather have us find a gem at QB like Russell Wilson that comes in and just takes everyone by storm - whether it is in the first round or later.
I have a hard time seeing Lock being more than mediocre, but I hope that we are not stupid enough to go after Deshaun Watson and just...

These are the cap numbers for the SB winning QBs over the last decades

  • It is so true and even in the down years - post Elway before Plummer we were competitive, the Cutler years we were close enough and could tell ourselves that if just...., 2009 with Orton/McDaniels - pretty interesting - and right there... Tebow mania, PFM, Siemian that was much better than anyone expected........

The thing with Drew is that he need coaching in the same manner that Plummer got in 2004-05, where suddenly he became a lot more effective because he an Kubes spend a lot of time cutting down mistakes. I believe that Siemian was a better QB than Lock, but he did not have the physical skills to be more...
