I didn’t record the game, so I haven’t watched it again. I seem to remember seeing 13 personnel a few times, but not sure. Still, I was happy to see a lot more 12 and some decent short game.

I’m with you. I hope to see more....

He probably should be re-signed. He’s improved this year and this team needs as many decent o-lineman as possible. Even for depth sake. Unfortunately, his price tag is going way up.

I was a bit surprised when they didn’t pick up his option. I understand he wasn’t looking great, but...

Yes, a gritty win indeed. I’m personally of the opinion that this team is built to be gritty. They’re just not a finesse/downfield passing team. I’d be perfectly content with a lot more big formations with a ball control/short passing/heavy run offense. I think it would suit them better....

Those are all super valid points. I’ve been pretty frustrated with Shurmur’s offense until yesterday. For me, it’s not only the route concepts, but personnel as well. He gets in this habit of going to 11 personnel with vertical pass concepts even when it’s not working at all. Yesterday he finally...

I personally think this game was an example of both Lock and Shurmur figuring something things out. Lock played better and stepped up into the pocket more, but Shurmur also called a shorter game that helped the offense as a whole. That game needs to be more of a blueprint for this offense....

Notice how the offense looked better once Shurmur consistently started calling shorter passes and more runs with multiple TEs. A young team needs to build on a shorter game. His bombs away approach to this season has not done this team any favors....

  • Shurmur’s best called game by a million miles. Finally sticking with some tighter formations. Sticking with the run and short passing. It’s working. I hope he sticks with this style....

  • The short, quick passes mixed with running to the outside in multiple TE sets is really helping this team move the ball.

who knew you can help a young offense but calling a better short game....

I had high hopes for the kid. He has many qualities you look for in a young QB.

We all knew going into this season that he’s still raw, no offseason, and there would be ups and downs.

The problem I’m having is there haven’t been many “ups”. He’s played pretty...

Yes, I agree Lock looks like a bust and they need to look at other QB prospects. I said that in my post.

I just don’t think a QB switch is the only issue. Sure, you have to start somewhere, but I personally don’t trust this staff from top to bottom.

    That said, I’m...

It’s already a s* show. I agree Ellis burdens plenty of blame. These days, I just refer to the Ellis/Elway tandem as “the FO”. Really, it is a problem from the ownership issues all the way down. This franchise is in dire need of a complete rebuild....

I certainly don’t blame all of Lock’s problems on Shurmur. In fact, I stated quite clearly that Lock is looking more like a bust and we should be looking at other QB prospects.

My entire point is that I really don’t trust this FO and coaching staff to develop any QB and a QB switch...

Lock is not having a good season. That much is obvious.

I really don’t think a new, shiny QB is going to solve all the problems. Don’t get me wrong, I think considering new QB prospects should be part of the plan.

My problem is that even if we get a better QB, we’re...

I agree that we’re likely stuck with Elway and Fangio for another year. I just don’t see Ellis pulling the trigger before his contract is up.

Still, I am looking forward to a change of guard. Elway has just had too many failures on too many levels, drafting, retention, coaching hires,...

Lock is still a bit raw, no doubt. He’s inconsistent and really doesn’t look comfortable in this offense.

I still like his intangibles and he has good raw talent. I personally expected some trying times this year, so I’m not surprised by the offensive struggles. I’m definitely...

  • I actually really liked Scangs play designs. He just had to feeling for the rhythm of the game and also made weird “trick play” calls. Still, I thought he improved over the season and looked like he might of had some rapport with Lock.

    Totally agree with your assessment...

  • I really don’t like Shurmur. He constantly uses odd personnel and makes poor play calls. It was 1st down and they’re behind. Lindsay in pass pro isn’t a good call. Also would like to see more running. The offense as a whole is not performing well, but Shurmur doesn’t seem to be doing them...
