Because Elway doesn't like Dennison, and this was the sticking point when Kubes was going to return as our OC --he wanted Rick to be his OL coach. Elway said no, so Kubes went to Minn and Rick went with him.

Dennison was never a very good nor creative OC and there were a lot of complaints...

Practice is canceled today, the game this Sunday is not.

    Hyperbole much?

Bolles is playing better, but that's it.

Lock got hurt this year because the line imploded. Risner is worse, Cush has had rookie struggles, Glasgow has underperformed, Wilkinson was a turnstile, and Dotson is poor to mediocre so we will absolutely...

    This MHR article is good:

Tale of the tape: What is going on with Drew Lock?

Yeah, I thought this was at least a partial factor behind his alleged improvement but the truth is he actually has improved! The guys at MHR (who previously hammered on Bolles for bad technique) examined his play closely and it's significantly better, and that's the tale of the tape. See:

That's taking what I wrote out of context, and I didn't mean that in general terms. We're talking about Lock, rookies, players who have less than a season under their belts. And the more raw a player is the more time time they need to develop.

Flacco and Sanchez were vets, not noobs...

I can't disagree with that, it's pretty fundamental. But I am willing to give the kid more rope than others since he's new and learning the job, and has previously shown some upside. This season is a wash anyway, so it's a good time to have the growing pains and make the mistakes that will translate...

Technically, he's not a rookie, but essentially he is. He's played only 8.25 games. People here just want to (rather unfairly) judge him like he's had the benefit of time and experience from a full rookie season....

He's a mobile, gun-slinging risk-taker like Plummer, who was an INT machine because of it, especially in AZ. Then he was in Shanahan's O six years later which utilized PAP well because it was set up by a balanced and effective running game.

Lock all by his lonesome, "is putting the...

What do legitimate reasons (harshly and unfairly written off as "excuses") "excuse" him from and to what 'authority'? Us? The Fans? Please. I'm not giving him anything, because I'm not in charge. I mean, fans here can bench him in their minds right now if they want to (some have)...

"True", please. Until Lock has finished 16 games he's a rookie too, in the way that actually matters.

"Almost". Did Herbert play in a void without the rest of the Chargers? Are Herbert (pick #6) and Lock (pick #42) supposed to be equal? Does every rookie...

What's "real soon"? Folks better temper their expectations and learn patience, or they can throw reactive tantrums on the I-Net. He's showing more of a Plummer than a cerebral pocket passer like Manning at this point. Osweiler was never in this situation, he was Manning's backup, finally...

Elway is not the coach. Gruden is an offensive minded HC who has built offenses. The point is people's expectations that Lock and this O were supposed to be ready to outduel the Chefs is completely far-fetched and their disappointment and negative judgement is completely unhinged....

You've been on Lock's sack pretty hard. Yesterday it was that he only throws to the right -until I linked you to all his other drive charts that indicate he spreads it around. C'mon man. He's not above criticism, but fault-finding to support a premature judgement is really just hating on the guy....

Ugh, compartmentalizing stats to skew the picture. He threw 28 picks in his first year, period. And the point is, he struggled as a rookie. That's a fact, and you're in denial of it, because you don't like Lock and you totally lack patience to complete the evaluation period for our rookie. Lock may...

That still doesn't remove their status as the defending the World Champions (nor the Niners as the defending NFC champs) and those teams are introduced as such at games. And the Chefs haven't lost any of their key players or potency in the offseason, they're still the best. Gruden has been rebuilding...
