  • If we go the aging veteran QB route again, I might just cry. Ask Lions fans, ask Falcons fans— they know their QB is past their prime. Another stopgap solution or “bridge” vet is just hurting this young, talented team’s long-term outlook.

IMO, the QBs that could end up going in...

  • There’s no way we would be able to sign Winston to the extremely-cheap deal he took with the Saints. With that being said, I think he is definitely a starting-caliber QB in the NFL and I believe he would actually be a good fit for Shurmur’s vertical scheme.

In the ONE game where fans should literally have zero expectations— they still find a way to complain.

Sure, call more screen passes or quick outlet throws— but guess what, the Saints aren’t stupid. They’d be all over that too. One could combine the offensive minds of Shanahan/Reid/Roman/Kingsbury...

replied to Does Bolles get re-signed
So let’s say we franchise him. He repeats his elite performance. If we play the “wait and see” strategy like we are with Simmons right now, we wouldn’t be allowed to negotiate an extension with a hypothetically-franchise-tagged Bolles until 2022. That is a lot of time for the market to be reset where...

4 years, $68 million is a steal. With the way the market was trending, I thought there would be no chance Bolles takes an offer that’s less than $20M annually. Insane value for arguably the best LT in football right now.

  • I don’t think you can write off the QBs ranked after Lawrence/Fields. They are more than just consolation prizes. Lance, Wilson, Trask, and Jones all have legitimate talent. Some may be more raw than others, some may be more mobile than others— but at the end of the day I think they are all legitimate...

With a healthy roster and a slightly-better than game manager Drew Lock, this team’s floor is 8-8.

Drew Lock was relatively mistake-free after those first two drives. As long as he plays adequately, this team is competitive. I’m proud of the way he bounced back after an awful start. He didn’t set the Miami defense on fire, but he played a clean game and took what they gave him instead of forcing...

  • We have no choice but to see what Lock has to offer for the rest of the season— I get it. But if he doesn’t show any growth or slight improvement, and we pick somewhere in the top 10... it would be a mistake to pass up on a QB in a very strong class at the top. I know they were #1 picks, but look at...

    replied to Fire John Elway
This year is honestly an asterisk due to all the injuries suffered. Elway did a decent job of getting the team to look good on paper. I mean, who wasn’t excited for the season prior to Von getting hurt?

But when you start 3-6 for four consecutive years, something has to be said about...

  • Another game, another opportunity for our team to show growth. I'm looking for our offensive line to execute upfront, especially with Calvin Anderson making his debut at RT. For all the talk from our offense about needing to start faster, let's see if they can come out firing and establish momentum...

Calvin Anderson may be starting at RT this week, per Fangio. Although Anderson is technically the backup LT, this would make him essentially the RT5 blocking for Lock. Just something to keep in mind as we head into the weekend for another chance to evaluate our QB. I personally like Anderson and by...

I looked through your post history and I'll back off . You probably were the leader of the Quenton Nelson at #5 movement. I'll say for sure that you never wavered off of your stance, but for most of the people in this thread retrospectively making the argument about drafting Nelson-- they didn't have...

replied to Shaq Barrett > Bradley Chubb
Nelson had surefire All-Pro written all over him, that’s not a debate. But there’s no way he was the best player in the draft considering his positional value as a LG. At the time though, it was truly subjective whether Nelson or Chubb was BPA at #5. Like I said in my post above, Chubb was the best...

replied to Shaq Barrett > Bradley Chubb
I’ll reiterate it again whenever people love using hindsight bias to make their point here.

Chubb was the best defensive player coming into the draft in 2018. On top of that, he was the best EDGE rusher— meaning that he was not only the consensus best defensive player, but also the best...

    replied to Fire Pat Shurmur
Three different offenses in three years? No, thank you. Shurmur is a proven OC in this league. Give Lock the rest of this year to audition for next year's job. If he performs "good enough", then let's see how a full offseason program and actual continuity in offensive scheme will serve our...

  • Stayed off the boards today to preserve my sanity .

A few takeaways from a game in which the injury bug was most evident in our lack of performance. Losing Bouye and Callahan allowed any ATL receiver with two working legs to have a field day. I'm still sour over cutting Bausby and this...

  • I would give Jimmy G consideration if and only if Scangarello was still our OC. Hard pass from me.

  • If there is ever a game for Lock and our offense to show off their firepower and talent, it's this one. While I am hoping for a 2019 Houston-esque performance, I could settle for some consistency and good reads/decisions overall from Lock. The ATL defense hasn’t been as awful as it was when Quinn...

    replied to Dak
If we sign Dak, you can say goodbye to some of our homegrown talents with expiring deals coming up. We have cap flexibility for the next 3 years just because our starting QB is on a rookie contract. It becomes a “pick one” out of Bolles, Simmons, and Harris. It may also require parting ways with...
