    Introduction.....

The start of the college football season is upon us....During the offseason one of my favorite topics was discussion the draft and the player prospects.I also love the game of college football and multitude of historic teams it has to offer year and year out...So I decided to create a thread that combined the love of the game, the teams, the players, the draft, the games to be played and opinions on all of these things and use it as an evolving online notebook with as much information I can possible pack into it during the college season as something to look back on.....Even though I'm not expecting it to be or regarded as one of the best threads ever on Broncos Country ...I made a promise to myself I would give this thread an honest effort and bring the best of what I have to offer to Broncos Country

So with that I hope you enjoy reading and posting on here as much as I do.. Let The Games Begin !!

    Questions,Thoughts and Opinions Discuss ....

Please support your team and have "some" respect for other schools as well..Unless it is Rivalry Week !!

    Questions
No Michigan in the top 25...I wonder how long that has been since ? I hate the Wolverines but even on a off year they can beat I will say at least 15 teams on this list...Will the spread offense now be used in Michigan as well ?

Will the Loser of the Ohio St Vs USC game fall out of the top 12 ?

What team that ain't in the top 25 already will crack the top 10 any predictions ?

Early Heisman Predictions ? Dark Horse only predictions if possible...

Also any "unknown" players that you know of that we should watch for this year ?

Does any one disagree with the top 5 is it stands now ?

Other then Ohio St,USC which team in the top 5 will be the first to lose ?

Early predictions:What two teams do you predict will play for the BCS title ..?

Last but not least What team do you predict will be #1 at the end of the season ?

    Thoughts
I think that Georgia deserves the #1 AP to Start...What a shame the bowl lineup last year to end the season..I dont think anyone wanted anything to do with the Bulldogs once they caught fire...Now they are the hunted it will be fun watching it unfold...

At the end of last season I thought the SEC had the overall best conference I thought the B12 was real to them...I cant believe that WV loses to Pitt. Then turns around and just straight thumps Oklahoma...

    Discuss
The spread is coming to Michigan, which is why Terrelle Pryor was so interested when Rich Rod got hired.

They won't fall out of the top 12, but low 10.

I can see Penn State, South Carolina, Boise State (weak ass schedule), Texas A&M, or Virginia Tech making the top 10. Not all, but at least one.

    My Heisman picks are this:
    • Knowshon Moreno: RB Georgia
    • Chase Daniel QB Mizzou
    • Tim Tebow QB Florida
    • Beanie Wells OSU
    • Percy Harvin Florida
    • Sam Bradford: Oklahoma
    • Jeremy Maclin" Mizzou
    • Michael Crabtree: Texas Tech
    • Joe McKnight: USC

    ^In no particular order

My dark horse candidate is Lesean McCoy: Running Back from Pittsburgh

Unknown players are. Lesean McCoy, he is easily the most overlooked Running back in the entire nation because of Knowshon Moreno, Beanie Wells, James Davis, and Joe McKnight...you may not think he's unknown, but I hardly hear about him.

Travis Beckum: Tight End Wisconsin, this guy hardly gets ANY attention. Easily one of the best Tight Ends in the nation. at 6'4 223 this former Line Backer would be hard to overlook here.

C.J. Spiller: Clemson, most of the attention in this backfield is being directed twoards Davis. Don't sleep on this kid.

Josh Adams: Wake Forest. He ran for 953 yards and 11 touchdowns as a freshman, only gonna get better.

Zac Robinson: Oklahoma State: Way overlooked, 3rd best Quarterback in the Big XII behind Daniel and Harrell.

Eron Riley: Wide Reciever, Duke. 20.7 YPC in his career. Nuf said.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR Maryland: Could be the fastest WR in the draft if he opts to go. 4.28 speed.

Brandon Nicolas, DT Colorado: Easily overlooked because Hypolite is on the same line.

    My top 5 would be:
    Georgia
USC (came on too hot at the end of last year to deny this spot)
    OSU
    Oklahoma
    Missouri

Oklahoma will be challenged by Washington. If they don't lose to them, then Texass.

    BCS Game: Georgia vs USC

    Number 1: Georgia

As I'm sure you know the spread causes massive havoc on the traditional B10 style of play....

Good Calls ... I think CJ Spiller is the better of the two and thats not taking away from Davis ...

    Joe McKnight*, USC
    http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2010RB.php
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 182.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.38.
    Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
7/25/08: Joe McKnight has a lot of carries where he loses yardage, but he has the speed to break long gains - at the college level. I don't know how that'll work in the NFL. However, he does have blazing speed, so he should make for a good return specialist and third-down back.

Joe McKnight is their stellar utility back. You will see plenty of him against OSU, they run screens with him, put him in the slot, he's a Reggie Bush type player.

I can't see Georgia running the table. I think they have a chance to lose against South Carolina, against LSU, and against Florida. I obviously don't see them losing all 3 but if I had to choose one it would be LSU.

Obviously Darrell Scott has made alot of fans giddy (top running back prospect), however my favorite freshman to watch has been Rodney Stewart. We all thought he would be a threat at Punt Returner but he has looked less than stellar dropping some fairly easy balls. He is a very good runner though, and our backfield looks very solid this year.

Another freshman would be guard, Max Tuoti-Mariner, who could have been a 5 star recruit providing he played the entire season. Those are my favorites to watch so far. It's gonna be a good year. I can see us cracking the top 25 and making another bowl. maybe 7-6, 8-5, or even 9-4.

We have a brutal schedule, easily one of the toughest outside the SEC.
    CSU
    Eastern Washington
    West Virginia
    at Florida State
    Texas
    at Kansas
    Kansas State
    at Mizzou
    at Texas A&M
    Iowa State
    Oklahoma State
    at Nebraska

if we can come out of that first few games 3-1 or 4-0 I will be very impressed, but I'm optimistic.

Any word on how Pryor has looked?

Man that is a nasty brutal schedule I must say.....I sure would like to see them handle their business against a couple of those top teams again this year ...That win vs Oklahoma last year was fantastic ...If they could win one of the nonconf games against WV,FS

Side note Florida State mite not be consider a Top team as far as rankings go "BUT" anytime you game go into Seminole country and beat them at home it should leave you feeling very good about what your team just accomplished.

I'm just now getting interested in the College football season...Only things I have heard is find ways to get him the ball...

Other then that I have not heard any word of him taking the QB spot from Todd Boeckman. The Buckeyes had another top QB a few years back that just didn't pan out in Justin Zwick.I really liked what I seen in Boeckman last year..But he was unsteadied in the pocket..I have read that to help Boeckman Ohio St had been experimenting with a 2-tail back set trying to use short, quick passes...

I knew i forgot a dark horse heisman candidate.

You want a Dark Horse? here you go..

Armanti Edwards. Quarterback from Appalachian State

    159.34 Quarterback Rating
    66.7 Completion Rating
1588 Rushing yards with a long of 80
    1948 Passing yards

This guy can straight up play, I don't care about the talent he plays against. The dude shredded Michigan. That earns my respect.

That he did... I wonder if anyone has ever won a heisman not playing in a Div 1 school ?...We will have to check where the draft boards have him projected and compare where he ends up....

First things first It would be great to see him/APst upset LSU ...

Aug 30 - vs. Appalachian St sorry LSU fans I know that will not happen...But what "if" huh...

Key Match ups week one and Upset Specials

    (20) Illinois at (6) Missouri, 8:30 PM Big 10 Vs Big 12 ...

    Key Players ....

    QB - Chase Daniel, Missouri
    http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2009QB.php
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 223.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
    Projected Round (2009): 4-5.
2007: Chase Daniel's 6-foot frame really hurts him. Plenty of small quarterbacks have succeeded in the NFL, so that doesn't mean Daniel will be a bad signal caller; it just means he won't get drafted as high as he should.

One attribute that will help Daniel is his scrambling ability; he's quick and has shown that he's capable of picking up yards on the ground. In terms of passing, Daniel completed more than 50 percent in every single game. He ended his 2006 campaign with three interception-less games. He threw for 240 or more yards 11 times, finishing with 3,527 yards, 28 touchdowns and just 10 picks.

    Jeremy Maclin**, Missouri
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 199.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.33.
Projected Round (2009): Top 25 Pick.
5/22/08: If Jeremy Maclin can run a 4.29, you better believe he'll be off the board by the pick No. 15. He has a chance to do it, though if I had to bet, I'd say low 4.3.

2007: Jeremy Maclin set the NCAA freshman record for all-purpose yardage. A dynamic return specialist, Maclin also had 1,055 receiving yards, 375 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns in 2007. He'll be a red-shirt sophomore in 2008, so he'll be eligible for the 2009 Draft.

    CB - Vontae Davis, Illinois
    http://statistics.ncaafootball.com/m.../schedule.aspx
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.39.
Projected Round (2009): Top 10 Pick.
5/17/08: There's a chance Vontae Davis could surpass Malcolm Jenkins. In his two seasons at Illinois, Davis has registered 128 tackles, five picks and 14 passes broken up.

2007: One of the top players at his position in the 2010 class, Vonate Davis has incredible speed for a big corner. He made an immediate contribution as a true freshman. Through four games in 2007, Davis has two blocked punts.

    QB Juice Williams, Illinois
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 233.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.67.
    Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
7/24/08: There's no question Juice Williams will be playing at the next level. It's just a matter of which position he'll play. Williams is a threat at Illinois because of his dynamic rushing ability, but his mediocre completion percentage and touchdown-to-interception ratio say otherwise of his ability to be a quarterback in the NFL. Seriously, you can't go 7-of-15, 145 yards and two picks against Ball State.

    WR-Arrelious Benn*, Illinois
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 214.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2010): Top 25 Pick.
7/26/08: The Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Arrelious Benn led the Fighting Illini with 54 catches and 676 yards. He was consistent all year, registering at least four receptions in 11 of his 13 games.

    DE Derek Walker, Illinois
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 272.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.74.
    Projected Round (2009): 3-4.
2007: Derek Walker has a habit of getting to the quarterback, but he also missed some action in 2006 with an ankle injury.

    Thoughts and Prediction ....

What a great way to start off the season I applaud these two Schools for playing tuff competition

It was great game last year and without really knowing unless a fan of the school, conference that both these teams would have title implications...Can Ron Zook take his next step with Illinois and win a tough out of conference game..He put a win against Ohio St in his pocket last year...How long can Missouri hold on to a top 10 spot it all begins here...I thought Missouri finished strong last year..Beating the SEC "But" can they knock off Oklahoma and Texas from the B12 Mountain ...

    Prediciton...

I go with the upset here .... Revenge/payback from last year ... I think Illinois will handle the spread much better this go around and both teams will come out flat ...Taking away from Missouris potent attack .... I think Juice will be the key scrambling ...

    Score

    Illinois 28 -Missouri 21

I will post about more games and would be week 1 upsets ....

I would like to see what games you guys have an eye on opening week ...

    Support your team !

LSU opening up with App State should be interesting, but then Troy and North Texas. Gee, and LSU wants some respect! I think LSU goes (I forgot how many games they play I beleive 12) 9-3. I am looking forward to Oct 25, WJ, the Dogs come to Death Valley, but its a day game

I was thinking man wouldn't be something if Cinderella struck twice ...

    ON the real though....

The spread will not bother LSU at all like it did the Wolverines..Plus no surprise factor and App St just gets pounded...LSU lost some key pieces and like your post says...The new guys want respect ...

Final Score 55 -13 LSU ...I will have even more respect for LSU this year if they knock off either the Bulldogs and the Gators LSU plays both of them before the Bulldogs/Gator matchup...Which on paper just looks super fantastic...Can LSU step up and spoil it ...

Anyword on the QB Situation @ LSU.. I seen espn run a clip about it yesterday...

Also tracking rookies ....We should get to see big handfulls of Early Doucet this week vs the Cards
