Who does Jay remind you more of?

    Elway or Favre?

I know, very lofty comparisons at this point. For me, I think his skill set is more comparable to Favre. His delivery motion and athleticism seem to fit more with how Favre throws and plays.

Thats not to say Elway wasnt athletic, he was just athletic in a different way. Cutler is very elusive in the pocket especially when he rolls out. Elway had the ability to shed tackles using his natural strength which is why he was very successful at running the ball. Cutler can become successful scrambling through his agility and speed.

The reason he gets compared to Elway more is simply because he plays in Denver.

I had to say Favre, simply because, even with Cutlers fantastic arm strength I havent seen him making one throw very often that was an Elway trademark.

Which throw? The one where Elway would roll out to the right and then throw it 20 yrds downfield on the run....but to the left side of the field. Or reverse the rollout to the left and John would throw it downfield on the right side of the field.

I have seen Cutler do this one time this year, and that was against the Raiders on a pass to the TE. Even then though it was more of a seam pass and wasnt all the way back to the other side of the field.

Elway could throw back across his body on the run better than any other QB I have ever seen.

    I'll put it this way:

If Cutler played in Green Bay instead of Denver - would there even be Elway talk? Yeah, didn't think so.

He reminds me of this Kid used to play about 70 miles from where I live at a Little SEC school that never has a very good football team but man could this Kid wing it...his name was Jay Cutler. Let Jay be jay and quit trying to put him in a box that he can't fill. He aint Elway and he aint Favre and he never will be or remind me of either.

    At this very moment?

    Brett Favre....

Jay still forces the ball and relies on his arm strength to squeak the ball into tight coverage. This in turn usually turns into an INT. Jay makes a lot of bonehead decisions like Favre does.

Until Jay matures a bit more, he will remind me more of Favre.

I don't think he will remind me of Elway until he takes us back to the Super Bowl and wins it!

Jay will make a BIG name for himself. He will be better than Favre as far as taking care of the ball. He'll grow out of this. Favre never did. Favre is the most overrated player in sports history!

He's not fit to shine Elway's shoes. Nor is anyone else for that matter, past or present.

Jay has the skills to make us successful in the future...but right now, he is just Jay Cutler in my eyes.
