I review the monthly data for our weather history, and it is clear to me that this city's winter's are shorter and summer's warmer, based on the average temps. For example, our coldest weather used to settle in by now, and peaked mid to late January, whereas the stats now say that our temps start to reverse (to the warmer) starting mid January, which may not seem like much. But it's about 2 weeks sooner than when I used to look at it, say 10-20 years ago. That's a significant shift.

Same with summer, the hottest average temps in mid summer are higher than ever before in this area.

This is not meant to be a discussion about "change", just a scientific fact, using data for one city.

Truth is, I fear cold winter weather less than when I grew up, because the cold streaks seem to be interrupted by warmer temps more frequently, whereas decades ago the cold could settle for weeks on end.

Oklahoma weather......currently there are severe thunderstorm watches and warnings out, tornado watches and warnings and around 1800 there will be a winter storm watch issued....

    .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible mainly this morning in the
far eastern Texas Panhandle. A strong storm can`t be ruled out
with a small chance for hail.

Snow is possible across all of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles
today through tonight. 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected in the
northern combined Panhandles, along with portions of the central
and western Texas Panhandle. A Winter Weather Advisory is in
effect for all but the far eastern and south central Texas
Panhandle from noon today through 9 AM Saturday morning.

Cold wind chills down to -5 are possible late Friday night.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Cold wind chills down to -5 are possible early Saturday morning
along with some lingering snow flurries. The Winter Weather
Advisory will expire at 9 AM Saturday morning.

    God I love living here.....
