Cushing suspended 4 games for steroids

    ESPN LINK

Consider me the opposite of shocked. There were rumors about this guy dating back to his highschool days.

He was a monster last year. I wonder how far he'll fall off without the juice. I suppose, this being a Bronco forum, that a Merriman joke will follow soon. Have at it.

I know some people wanted us to draft him last season, but I sure am glad we didn't, Roger Goodell has got to be slamming his head against a wall right now. All these players getting in trouble are making the NFL look horrible as of late.

I was happy when we passed up on him in last years draft but during the season I have to admit I thought he looked great.

But Im still releived we passed up on him as this was always a worry. (same with Mathews aswell)

Lol pwned I wonder how he'll do clean.

Might become as much of a non-factor as Merriman.

I suspected something along those lines. He just looks like he takes steroids.

This was a concern and even a rumor when he was coming out of college that he was juicing. Not really a surprise - - will they take his defensive rookie of the year award away?
Remember: If you dont feed the trolls - they will go away! Neither logic nor a compelling argument will make a difference.

You think he'll have a monster season then? Or do you mean he might suffer a catastrophic knee injury as a result of a cheapshot, which takes 2 years to fully recover from?

For reference, Merriman was busted early in the 2006 season, and served out his suspension in the middle of the year. He came back and played well down the stretch before a shoulder injury limited his effectiveness against the Pats in the playoffs. In 2007, fully a year after he tested positive for steroids, he had what most fans consider to be his best season. Despite not blitzing nearly as much in Cotrell's system, he was a terror both against QBs and the run game for most of the season. Late in the season, in a very dirty game, Kevin Mawae and another Tennessee player took out his knee from behind, tearing several ligaments. He finished out the season, but had to get reconstructive knee surgery before the 2008 season and struggled through last year with plantar fasciitis and other injuries stemming from pushing his recovery too fast.

This season should give us a better idea of whether Merriman's success was solely due to the roids, but in my mind that 2007 season showed that he can be dominant without them. Roids wouldn't have an effect a year after he stopped, they don't work like that.

Except for Tebow, thats a bright spot for the NFL, expect Tebow sales to increase even more with every player that gets caught doing something bad or gets suspended, it just makes Tebow look even better in the fans eyes, i bet you the comish is wearing Tim Tebow underoos at night, pitching wood over the good PR this guy generates and the sales figures that go with that.

Not surprising at all, there were reports that both he and Clay Mathews tested positive for steroids at the combine last year.

Only fools bet against Tim Tebow.

    Because of imperfect testing methods.

Most of the vets are probably on HGH, which can't be detected in urine.

A good percentage of linemen likely cycle in the offseason, using short cycles and compounds that disappear from the body quickly.

A guy like Cushing who has been using since high school likely can't play at a high level without them. But some guys have said that you have to be an idiot to get caught.
