    Dumervil back to DE

and ayers to the other side, which most likely means we will select Peterson with the 2nd. Anyone else skepticle about this considering hes best used as an outside LB in a 3-4. oh ya and Tebow will be great.

our DC is coming from a 3-4... is it even 100% that were changing back?

Even if we do change fox's 4-3 has one of the ends in more of a pure pass rush role. Doom should be fine if we can sure up the rest of the D

Is Doom really as 1-dimensional as everyone says?

I don't pay attention as much to how well our players do in run support, but much of the football world seems to think Doom is not a true DE/OLB, more of a pass-rush specialist.

So is he THAT bad at run support? Is his weakness shedding blocks /containment/etc?

He's average/below average at run support. His biggest weakness in the 3-4 was pass coverage.

He is indeed a one dimensional pass rush specialist, IMO. Sort of the linebacker version of Dwight Freeney.

No worries here. He was highly productive as a DE his first 3 years. Also I'm sure they'll stand him up in different packages just as he still occasionally had his hand in the dirt in 2009 (I think about 6-7 of his sacks came from in the dirt). So he'll be just fine. It will probably work to our benefit once Fox gets some big strong DT's holding the front down, speed rushes off the edges, and if we can acquire an aggressive MLB, get DJ back to WLB, we'll be really strong in the front 7 without spending too much money. That could open up numerous possibilities for what is going to be be dome with the DB's

    ?

Freeney is very strong against the run.

Doom is more like John Abraham on the falcons, who plays exclusively on passing downs. He still gets 10+ sacks a year too.

How are you so sure we will select peterson if we move back to a 4-3 we still need d-tackles where we could take fairley (if still available) or even marcel dareus (sp?) At number two. Which honestly right now I would rather have either one of those guys then peterson.

But he's small so he must be weak against the run right?

I don't see the logic in that at all considering we are moving 2 of our linebackers to the D-Line. IMO this means that we will be taking a linebacker with our first pick.

I see us moving back and grabbing a guy like Von Miller.

I hope we can do that. Maybe Buffalo will want Cam Newton and realize that they'll have to trade up one spot with us because other teams are trying to trade with us for the #2 pick to get Newton. Who knows, I'd be happy with either player. Bowers and Fairley are too risky to pick up, in my opinion.

I know the guys we have were horrible in a 3-4 set, but let's be honest, it takes a special kind of DT to be a real effective player in a 3-4. I want to see what our guys (Bannan, Williams, Fields, Mcbean, Thomas, Leonard) can do in a 4-3 set with Ayers and Doom hands in the dirt too. I agree we could still use a strong pic at DT, but I like the 4-3 better because you can have the guys that may be a little bit smaller but still strong. I think Fairley would be a stud with Williams next to him, but at the same time, if we can sign Champ, having Champ and PP would be pretty awesome too.

I have faith in Dennis Allen more so than Wink. He has worked as a position coach for every part of the defense. He will bring some good things for everybody and who knows, he may be able to help Ayers become the player that we thought he could be when we drafted him. Doom will be just fine with a solid DT.

Dumervil is not as bad against the run as people say. He's not the greatest run stopper but he has the skills and discipline to get the job done.

Some of the same skills he uses as a pass-rusher can be used to stop the run.

Mainly using those long arms of his to keep blockers off him while using his small but powerful frame to gain leverage, stand his ground, and set the edge. Plus with his size, it should be fairly easy for him to slip through the line and get penetration.

The main concern is he may get swallowed up my massive, road-grader linemen. Obviously that will happen sometimes, but I think Elvis will hold his own for the most part. Players are supposed to get better the longer they're in the league.

Man, I'm just going to come out and say it, a Traditional 4-3 is going to F everything up. LB for sale or rent. BUST will be chanted where we once cheered. In My educated Opinion.!!! Not necasaily because of the player because of the scheme.

WE drafted and drafted DL and a great D didn't come, untill we changed scheme, to better use the players assets.

Are you talking about Dumervil? Who would chant bust at a 4th rounder who led the league in sacks before they switched his position?
