    Cofield signs with Redskins :(

Its from Josina Anderson so you never know if its true but she is reporting the Redskins have agreed to terms with DT Barry Cofield on an undisclosed contract.

Damn them and their stupid massive checkbook. How the hell do they afford so many FA's every off-season....

I don't know its ridicules though, its like somehow the salary cap doesn't exist for them! This makes Mebane that much more important along with resigning of Marcus Thomas and possibly Bannan.

Yet every year they still suck, free agents don't make teams good, the draft does

Not sure why he'd go to a 3-4 team, he's not really a NT and he definitely isn't a 5 technique. I doubt this report

Very true...however a few key FA in the right system often does wonders as well

Yeah and now the updated report says they are expecting to battle for Cullen Jenkins as well....I don't get how they do it.

Redskins agreed to terms with DT Barry Cofield on a six-year contract.
The Redskins were fully expected to pursue Cofield, who will presumably replace Ma'ake Kemoeatu as the starting nose tackle in Jim Haslett's 3-4 scheme. Cofield bounced back nicely in 2011, grading out as a top-12 tackle in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Mike Shanahan's club is still expected to battle the Cowboys for free agent DE Cullen Jenkins this week.

Yeah but it'd be wrong to think well selected FA's can't hugely help out a well built team.

Jesus, a 6 year deal? That's ridiculous. I wouldn't have wanted him for a 6 year deal anyways. I don't get how they could afford Jenkins in addition to this either...

This blows, but now we need Mebane or Aubrayo Franklin. Hopefully Denver gets creative and gets McDonald as well.

Not a bad contract, if you need to cut after 4 years only a 4M cap hit.
