    Code of Conduct

    Code of Conduct

These are the terms of use that every member using interactive areas of this site agrees to adhere to. This would include chat rooms, message boards, blogs, the Denver Broncos' Facebook page and other interactive areas such as multimedia and contests.

Communicating in a chat room or on message boards is different from face-to-face communication. Only the words are seen, not your facial expressions or tone of voice. Please pay careful attention to how you use your words.

Remember that the words you enter in a burst of passion or indignant anger will be there for you and everyone else to see, sometimes long after those intense feelings have passed. That's not meant to discourage spontaneity, but just a friendly reminder of the long-term existence and effects of what you post.

You may, from time to time, find yourself in disagreement with someone else's opinion. At times like these, please keep in mind that it is safer and more polite to take issue with the comments rather than the person.

By using the Broncos Country Message Boards, you agree that you will not post any of the following material in chat rooms, bulletin boards or other forums, including private messages, signatures, or contributor point comments:

While the following rules are meant as guidelines, they are by no means meant to cover every circumstance that can arise in a web community. Each instance is subject to change and the staff reserves the right to to use reasonable discretion for any issues that arise within the community.

    • Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language or images. This includes attempting to bypass the profanity filter by replacing or adding characters.

    • Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member.

    • Material that defames or abuse others, including statements that are bigoted, hateful or racially offensive (hate speech).

    • Material that depicts or discusses illegal activities with the intent to condone or commit them, including drug use, violence and use of unauthorized copyrighted material.

    • Lying about your identity – either by denying that you are an existing member under a different name or impersonating a member of the Denver Broncos organization, including players and message board staff. Please be very careful how you post if more than one person is using a single computer or network. If there is any question about the accounts, it will appear as one person to the staff, and they will treat it accordingly.

    • Any communication that contains spam, including multiple copies in one area or the same communication in multiple areas and advertising or any form of commercial solicitation.

    • Material that impedes or otherwise prohibits communication; disrupts the discussion including, without limitation, using fan names in topical boards that are offensive to the topic, the team, the sport and/or its fans, and repeatedly posting off-topic messages in a topical message board.

    • Signatures larger than 750 pixels wide by 400 pixels tall and 100K in total file size.

    • Material dealing primarily with political or religious topics or issues, except in the forum reserved for members who have achieved Starter status or higher.

    • The use of links leading to inappropriate or potentially damaging sites (ex. link that leads to an adult oriented web page or a rick roll.

    • Harassing the moderators - This is considered a major offense. Moderators volunteer their free time to keep the boards running smooth while enforcing the rules and should be afforded the proper respect when they are performing their duties. You can disagree with them in discussions like any other member but when official action is taken you need to accept their decisions or discuss them privately and in a civil manner. Calling out moderators, publicly or privately, will not be tolerated.

    • Abusing the Contributor Status system. Penalties for doing so may range from an infraction to permanent removal of Contributor Status privileges. It is not a tool for abuse, and users are expected to use it to help shape a positive community. Actions contrary to that goal will be responded to on a case-by-case basis and with little tolerance.

    • Refrain from the use of derogatory monikers for any of the players, coaches or staff. This does nothing but agitate and offend other users and helps degrade conversations. Degrading nicknames will be deemed trolling and will be responded to accordingly.

    • Do not post links to, or ask for links to, live streams of NFL casts or other copyrighted material. While we most certainly understand and sympathize the desire to see the Broncos play, the NFL has asked that we remove and record any of these links that should be posted. Disregarding this warning can and will result in disciplinary action up to and including bans, and your information will be turned over to NFL security.

    • For any questions or comments, including negative CP complaints, refer first to the FAQ on the topic. If questions persist, PM a mod. We ask that users refrain from creating threads to complain about negative CP for the reasons discussed in the FAQ and links provided therein.

Statements or postings that violate the above terms will be acted on upon discovery. While we may attempt to notify you if we move or delete a post, we are under no obligation to do so. Depending on the nature of the violation, the Denver Broncos at their sole discretion may give public or private warnings, issue infraction points, suspend members' forum access or terminate a customer's account. Times of higher traffic (i.e. gamedays, or right after important news comes out) are likely to be treated more strictly. Please be attentive to what you post!

The Denver Broncos offer these forums for fans to discuss a variety of topics. There may be statements that individual members find personally objectionable that do not violate the Code of Conduct. All posts are the opinions of the respective members, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Denver Broncos Football Club.

    How the Infraction System Works:
If a post is made that violates the CoC, the staff will issue a warning for it. Warnings will appear in your control panel and are only visible to you and to site staff.

The warning carries a certain amount of points with it depending on the severity of the infraction. For example, duplicate threads can earn a warning worth between one and three points. Inappropriate language can get you between three and nine points. Inappropriate posts and disregarding site staff can be worth many points. some warnings can even be given without any points at all.

Points add up over time and eventually can have an impact on your access to site features, so be careful.

If the member doesn't break the same rule again for a while the infraction warning and associated points eventually go away. We can all move on and there was no stress involved.

If a member repeats a violation before the warning expires, the time for the warning is extended and the point value increases. So repeating the same mistake over and over again carries with it a longer-lasting warning which is worth more points, and rightly so.

When a member reaches a certain amount of total infraction points they'll temporarily lose the ability to use certain site features. This serves to let them know they're not living up to the community standards and they should do better.

If the problems persist and the total infraction points eventually exceed the top threshold the system will suspend an account temporarily. When the suspension is over, the member comes back and all is again right with the world.
