Dread it.Run from it.Destiny arrives all the same.
A&m D is historically embarrassingly bad on third downs.
Duke QB is 11/11 on third down for 8 first downs.
That's unheard of.
I just heard on ESPN they think he could go top 10. Personally I don't think he will be a Pro QB, but I been wrong before.
oh YEAH?
I disagree, but only slightly. I think he will be a serviceable QB at the next level, but nothing fantastic (though you'd think differently the way ESPN and all the sports analysts are talking about him).
For one, he doesn't have a rocket arm a la Favre, Cutler, or Stafford. He's also not particularly accurate (not inaccurate like Tebow, but nothing like we've seen out of Luck). Also, he is undersized at 6'0", 175. Yes, QBs like Brees have succeeded (jury's still out on Wilson - not sure how much of Seahawks' success is his and how much is the defense's), but that's not the norm. He also likes to rely on his feet a bit too much and, while running QBs have had some success in the league (e.g., Vick, Griffin, Wilson, Newton) they certainly aren't nearly as successful as traditional pocket-passers have been. Finally, he's not the best when it comes to decision-making. Sometimes, he tries to make something out of nothing and as a result, turns the ball over.
All in all, I think he'll be serviceable, but not great. Certainly not worth a top-10 pick.
