    He owes the team....

At this point... the Broncos have done everything they can for him, helped him to finish a great career, with dignity and class, and a Super Bowl win to cap off an incredible 2 decade run in the NFL.
    -
Time marches on... and I know we are not privy to the behind closed doors communication.. but it seems to me.. IMHO.. that it IS time now.. for PFM to do the right thing... and let the organization know what his plans are, concerning THIS TEAM.
    -
I don't mean, he must retire, I don't mean, he must tell us where he will go, but I DO mean.. that it is high time for him to make a hard choice here in Denver.
    -
He needs to be definitive... and tell Elway...

"I wanna stay one more year."
    or..
"I am gonna let you guys move on, thanks for the memories."
    -
It's time. Broncos need to get busy with contracts and signings.
    -
He OWES Elway and Company that much.

What he wants to do has no bearing. At all. It's just a media ruse. If Brock offered to come back for $8M a year do you really think Manning's decision matters?

The only real choice behind the scenes belongs to Brock. Is he willing to take a hometown discount to become QB of a good team, or is he going to chase money. Peyton is just a negotiating chip and potential fallback position should Brock play hard ball or leave Denver.

Interesting article. I wonder why the relationship between Elway and Manning soured this year. Because Peyton wasn't buying into the new offense early in the season?

Also, if Peyton comes back and says he wants to play another year, I think we have to say, "No, thanks." The guy is finished in all caps.

IMHO this is a signal from Elway saying, "Peyton it's time...we appreciate you but don't wear out the welcome. Retire or we will release you."

The sheer insanity of the idea that Manning has to drag this out is a shame.

Manning doesn't owe the Broncos anything.

Despite what is being reported, there's no reason to believe the Broncos are waiting on him before they explore other options.

Manning would be smart to force the Broncos to declare their intentions first.

If he wants to play and they don't, he needs them to cut him.

Manning would have probably announced this week had this Shaun King smear campaign not came about.

I doubt he planned on saying anything until March, no matter what.

wether or not WE fans know what is said.. this week...
he needs to decide.. and inform... Elway.

March 7is BOGUS. That is a full 3 weeks away.

It aint like it was last season.

It really doesn't matter, he's probably got until the combine before the Broncos start really pushing him since that's where they'll start talking to agents about different players (hypotheticals so they don't tamper....) and they'll want to know how much cap room they have. But either way they'll have $19 million from Manning, he'll either retire or be a free agent.

The bigger question marks are Clady and Ware, those are the difficult questions where it could go either way.

If this is the case... then PFM is being obnoxious on his way out the door.
As Peers, sharing such a similar carreer ending story.
as equals... why would Peyton do Elway dirty on the way out of town?

That don't make sense. They be grown ass men...
time for PFM to do the right thing and no dithering.

    I disagree about the waiting.
If PFM aint ginna be here..
I truly believe that Brock is the guy Elway wants..
and I also believe Brock wants to stay...
and there is ZERO reason not to get a contract done and signed..
so that Clady, and Ware and on and on..
    can be given attention.
    -
My point is... step by step.. they need to move...
    and step one is QB...
and PFM oughta man up and make his intent crystal to clear the decks.
    -
I'm sayin... Elway don't wanna do PFM dirty...
    so they oughta TCB.

None of us know that, the Broncos might love Osweiler and be willing to break the bank for him. They might like him but only at a 7 digit number per year, or they might not really care if he stays.

He might desperately want to stay in Denver no matter what they offer him, or he might want every single dollar that he can get. This is his chance to truly get a big pay day, he might not want to throw that away.

No matter how it plays out, Manning will have no impact on it, right now the Broncos are being polite and "allowing him to make a decision" but they're going forward without him being on the books, it's just a matter of how he wants to leave.
