I mean gtown you act like the season is already down the drain but the team is 7-6 and still in a playoff spot.

And Girard isn’t just some propsect. He started out the season in Nashville and over performed while their original starter was injured.
Go ahead and address me with all the personal insults you want. It doesn't change the mistakes that an incompetent Front Office has made, by one iota.

And yes, the Avs are 7-6. But somebody on this Board Posted that "It’s an 82 game season", and "wait and see". You can't have it both ways. Let's see where we are in March. For those of us who follow hockey, we remember that the Avalanche finished 20 POINTS BEHIND THE 2ND WORST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE, last season.

And what about Girard? He is an undersized Defenseman who was taken in the 2nd Round in 2016. Girard got icetime in 5 of Ottawa's first 15 games. He was a healthy scratch the rest of the time. He is as far away from being a "Blue Chip" prospect as you can get. Sakic screwed things up so badly with Duchene (not to mention Will Butcher, Stastny, and Ryan Oreilly) that he ultimately took whatever he could get for the best player on the Colorado Avalanche Roster. Girard is likely to be sent to the Minors unless Sakic feels the obvious pressure to keep him on the Avs roster. Today, the Avs are significantly worse than they were a week ago.

So, that's 3 "Propsects", only one of whom hasn't been sent to the minors since the Trade, a throwaway "salary dump" Goalie, and some draft picks. And how about those Draft Picks? Anyone who has looked at the Avs history of Drafting outside of their perennial Top 10 picks, won't be encouraged. Just look at Duncan Siemens. The 11th Pick in the Draft, a few years back, and a Defenseman who will never get out of the Minors.

So if pointing out some facts about the Avs is "whining", then I suggest you get used to it.

I dont understand some reoccurring problems. Its not like we been devoid of talent so why do our stars keep leaving or not developing? Over the past few years ive also routinely hear that they have been out shot or that they didnt shoot enough. Its so easy for me to see how they wouldve been successful if they had been able to keep orielly, stastny, duchane....but they have made it pretty easy to imagine things better after last season

They are still hanging around. This team is improved whether some people want to see it or not. Not referring to you Blondie.

Last nights Avs game against New Jersey should be marked on everyone's calendar as the 1st game of the 2017-2018 season where Nakita Zadarov actually lost the game for the Avalanche with a perfect pass to a New Jersey player standing directly in front of Varlamov. That particular goal should list Zadarov as receiving an "assist" for the opposing team. That happened at least a half-dozen times, last season. I can't help but believe that the NHL is investigating the possibility of "betting" on games.

If you aren't watching the Avs/Coyotes game, you are missing an Avs team that is highly motivated and taking no guff after the cheap, sucker punch by the coyotes Rinaldo on Girard. Great to see EJ and MacKinnon step up for Girard.

I agree. This years team already has 43 Points, while last year's team finished the entire season with a total of 48 points. Part of it has to do with MacKinnon, who is playing like he is the best hockey player in the world. And he very well may be. Part of it is the Defense, with Zadorov, Nemeth, and to a lesser degree, Girard, stepping up.

Compher and Barrie were both playing lights-out until they were both injured, and Varly was having as good of a season as he's ever had until he got injured, last night. One can only hope that Varly hasn't re-injured his surgically-repaired groin that has been the long source of trouble for the last few years.

And as much as I wished the Avs would sign Hitchcock to coach the team when he was let go by St. Louis, I have to say that Bednar is doing a very good job. One thing I wasn't aware of was that Bednar's assistants, last season, were the Assistants that Roy had hired. They are gone, and Bednar has brought in his own assistants. That appears to have helped.

And of course, needless to say, this has taken a lot of the heat off of Sakic. And although I believe Sakic has made some bad mistakes, it appears that he has learned from them, and things are now going in his favor. I mean, Matt Duchene has 6 Points for the season. And as much as I was against it at the time, even I can't argue with the Duchene Trade, now.

I hope the young players on this team can keep up their great play.

Im excited about the future of the Avs as well. Im afraid to say anything about the current season because it seems like every time I say something about the other Denver sports teams the opposite happens.

I haven't checked into the thread, but as you all know I've been watching.

It's finally nice to see a phenom become a phenom. Some of these dangles Big Mac are pulling off are unreal. Compher is playing great, EJ seems to be having a comeback.

Shame about Barrie. Seems every time the avs start doing well he gets injured.

    Hooray, beer!

I can identify with that. I thought Mike McCoy would turn the Broncos offense around, and he was the first to be fired.

I just hope that the rookies and youngest players for the Avs are able to catch their 2nd wind and continue with their great play
