Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Part of being a Bronco fan is we are different from Cowboy, Raider, Steeler, or Raven fans. We don't tolerate these characters.
As someone who has never hit a woman, I question anyone on this board who defends Mixon.
Well Mixon apparently had a great interview with the Raiders and they have a need at RB. So just as the Chiefs got a steal last year, the Raiders could this year.
I think this guy regrets his decision, and I think he's worth wherever he's going to fall.
I personally would welcome some meanness from our team and with Leary and Watson it appears Elway does too.

Yes sir, but at the same time this isn't about him being an adult. This is about him being simply young and dumb. Take responsibility out of it. This was just a bad reaction at a bad time. The dude was assaulted. Whether you like it or not he was attacked and verbally and physically assaulted by that woman. He just had a bad reaction. It was one hit, and he didn't go overboard with multiple hits. He then simply walked away. He was also the one who came off as remorseful and pushed to have the video leaked so he could show his side.
I have never understood why is it so taboo for a man to hit a woman, but it's fully acceptable for a woman to hit a man and get away with it. And I don't know why people say he could have walked away. If my wife was hitting me and screaming at me, and I walked away I bet money she would either follow me while still screaming and hitting or throw something at me.
Men should be able to defend themselves against other men as well as women. As stated before he threw one punch which was enough to stop the assault and walked away. He didn't climb on top and keep hitting. He didn't drag her out of the bar by her hair. He didn't lie to police. This is not the same as Ray Rice. Don't get it twisted. This was a young and dumb teenager who just put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Clearly Mixon could never have gotten away from her with that 4.4 speed, so why even try? And how considerate of him to stop hitting her after the first punch.
Thinking he should have a second chance is fine, but is your love of Mixon really that important that you have to try to justify his actions?

There are a bevy of players that have mean streaks on the field and a clean record off of it. I wouldn't be so quick to equate the two.

I wouldnt really say I have a love for Mixon. I just don't like when people are condemned and hated rather then people being rational. People do the look at the big picture. People just see our end piece and jump to conclusions before getting all the facts and making a sound decision. I don't know how many times I have said while I don't condone his decision making, I understand the quick reaction to defend yourself from being attacked. Regardless if it's a woman or a man attacking you I can only guess he felt either threatened or discriminated against. We do that know what she said to him or what happen before. She could have used racial slurs before she even hit him in the face. Why is it not right to defend yourself even against a woman?
Former Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon has settled a civil lawsuit brought against him by Amelia Molitor, whom he punched in 2014.
It sounds like a private, one on one meeting was highly beneficial. Then again, the timing is interesting, given that the draft week has arrived.
I will try to be positive and hope that both parties are truly moving ahead. I hope she has fully recovered, physically and mentally. I expect that he has learned a large life lesson. As it states, at least 6 teams have scratched him from their boards.
I can not help but think that the settlement, tied in with this week's draft, worked in her favour, and so it should. Regardless, if nothing else it gives me a good feeling to think she is able to carry on, and not be restrained by the incident.
The civil lawsuit brought by Amelia Molitor, the Oklahoma student who was punched by running back Joe Mixon in 2014, has been settled out of court.
Molitor's attorney released a statement via NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, although terms of the settlement remain confidential.
"I am happy we were able to bring the lawsuit to an end. Joe and I were able to meet privately, without any attorneys, and talk about our experiences since that night. I am encouraged that we will both be able to move forward from here with our lives," Molitor's statement read. "From our private discussions I am satisfied that we are going to put this behind us and work towards helping others who may have found themselves in similar circumstances. I greatly appreciate his apology and I think the feelings he expressed were sincere. We both could have handled things differently. I believe if we had a chance to go back to that moment in time, the situation would not have ended the way it did.
"... Going forward, Joe and I agreed we needed to move on from this situation and focus on the future. I'm now planning to attend graduate school. I still plan to speak out and support other people, whether on college campuses or elsewhere, who are faced with overcoming difficult circumstances that have attracted intense public scrutiny. I'm finished talking about what happened that night with Joe. It's time to move on from that. I wish Joe the best of luck in his future."
Said Mixon: "I'm thankful Mia and I were able to talk privately. I was able to apologize to her one-on-one. The way I reacted that night, that's not me. That's not the way I was raised. I think she understands that. Talking together helps move us past what happened. I know I have to keep working to be a better person, and this is another step in that direction. I love working with kids, and I'm looking forward to more chances to do that kind of work. I want to lead a life that inspires them, and I hope I can lead by example from today forward."
The misdemeanor criminal charge against Mixon, acts resulting in gross injury, was pleaded to probation, counseling and community service. He was suspended from OU's football team for the 2014 season. A video of the incident, released in December, brought renewed public scrutiny to Mixon, however, and his draft status has been clouded as a result. He's considered one of the top talents at running back in this year's draft. Reportedly, at least six NFL clubs have taken Mixon off their draft board.
The draft will be held April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
I wouldnt draft Mixon in any round. Then as an UDFA, I would hope Mixon could choose a team located near a good support system for him, and the ball club was willing to provide all the necessary resources to help Mixon.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
I don't know and I don't care
Yeah he's super talented, could probably help us win a ton of games.... But! I would feel dirty cheering for a guy like him. I hope the Broncos stay far, far away from Joe Mixon. Would rather see him get smacked around by the Orange Crush.
If the victim in this circumstance is willing to forgive him, I think those who are judging him should, too. Although I am vehemently opposed to any type of domestic violence, I also know young people make mistakes. Things can happen in an instant when emotions are at an extreme. If not physical, who among us has never said something hurtful during an argument and soon thereafter regretted it? I would have no issues having this guy as a teammate or a friend if he were willing to right his wrongdoing and help others from making the same mistake. To me, it sounds like his is on his way toward doing this.

Two totally different things. Saying something mean is sooooooo far from throwing a Mike Tyson hook into the face of a woman.

Disagree. Emotional pain is just as serious as physical pain. In fact, I would argue emotional pain lasts longer. Neither are to be condoned. Look at all the teens committing suicide over bullying. Unfortunately, most of that bullying is done psychologically. To me, both types of abuse are just as serious in nature.

That just escalated quickly... you were talking about saying one thing in an argument you regretted later, which is minuscule in comparison to punching a woman in the face.
I want a football player that can help Denver win games. I believe Joe Mixon has that ability. What he did off the field is handled by the league and authorities. If he was constantly getting in trouble than I wouldn't want Denver to get him. However, he had the incident with hitting the lady and whatever that ticket issue one was. He isn't going or went to jail, he isn't getting suspended by the NFL, and I highly doubt he makes the same mistake twice. This guy is electric and reminds everyone of another Bell/ David Johnson. I will be pissed is Denver skips on him and he goes to Oak or another rival and tourments us for years like Hill did this year.
Just my take....although I like that things have moved forward, I prefer we do not select him. Seeing the video tainted my feelings for the guy. Just a personal thing perhaps. Doesn't mean he will not be a good member of society for the rest of his life.

He'll be drafted.
