    Bar rules

Over the weekend some Bartender told me "You have to keep your eyes OPEN when you are sitting at the Bar."

    WHAT ??

I have never heard of that rule.

Is this a Bar Rule, or was he just being a JERK ???

And of course, I did not order another Beer from him !

If you close your eyes at my bar I will slam my hand as loud and as hard as I can down on the bar in front of you.

This is a bar where you sit, not a bar where you sleep.

Also, yes, I see you. No you don't have to wave your money at me.

    Hooray, beer!

Absolutely I do. I'm great at what I do and people love coming back to see me.|

The guy next to you isn't interested in watching you snore or slobber on yourself. We've all had a long day too.

And the money waving thing was a little extra FYI, since we were on the subject. I feel not enough people know that you will in fact get passed or not seen at all if you continue waving your money at a busy bartender.

    Hooray, beer!

Just to be clear, I was NOT sleeping, just relaxing.

    Fine line I guess..

    Depends on the bar.

I used to go to a bar where if you forgot to take off your hat when you came in, they rang a bell and you had to buy everyone a round.

Bartenders have a lot of power. I think they get to make their own rules.

I would guess sleeping at a bar to me would be a sign that your cut off from drinking?

Dont go to a military bar...tons of rules. Like if Sam and i were at a bar and he slapped down a coin of his, i would be buying him drinks the rest of the night as my coin is hanging at home on the wall (dont drink much these days...)

Nothing like being challenged by an FS in his galley for 3 days of a bar tab when we reached kodiak...and that wasnt even a bar...hard to argue rules with an FSC and your a mess cook

The bar tender.....the one who soothes your pains, thru a nice, stiff drink perhaps, or by being a listener in time of need. Or maybe gives you a reason to smile (again, the drink might do it) thru a smile or a good word. What a respectable profession! They should be classified as members of the medical world.

Yup. The bank already steals, so they're excluded, but this is why you should always tip good barbers and bartenders.

    Hooray, beer!
