Here's a stat that supports the concerns of many of us:

Through the first four weeks, the totals for points scored (3,030), touchdowns (344) and touchdown passes (228) are all the highest in NFL history.

Some might say the QBs are better, as are the WRs and Oline, and the game is more passer driven. I would say it's a possibility, but very unlikely for the change. I think most of us agree, it's more likely because of the new rules that keep favouring offensive football, through the over protection of QBs, and the support of WRs, who are allowed to roam with little fear of tight coverage or solid hits. Penalties add yards, and extend drives. That's the core of it.

The NFL needs to review its time management program. Games on average need to decrease. Sure, good for beer sales and so on, but the flow of the game is lost so often, because refs throw flags like they are on commission, and needless/endless reviews plaque the process.

I would hope the league would take a serious look at the length of games, and break things down to what is causing the most time....and then formulate a plan to speed things up. And most definitely, the rules committee have to let Dbacks play the game without handcuffs. Receivers are getting far too much room, and in fact, get away with a lot of interference themselves. Like TEs the size of Gronk running into Dbacks.

Whatever....had to rant. These games are too long!!
I agree can. I will support this team through thick and thin.

However, the ref involvement lately seems poised to completely affect the outcome of game and quality of play.

If it gets much worse for me it will be an unwatchable product.

Typically reffing seems to improve through the season.

Sadly, that's what's happening. Each week, each "bumping the passer" flag, each time a player lowers his head, wondering if it will draw a play ending penalty...they're killing the game.

What idiotic rule changes await us next season, and the one after? Maybe move the defense 10 yards back from the LOS? Or place the QB in a Redman Suit?

I believe you are right....so lets hope the refs get the email from the league to say, "ok, ease up a little." But they may also add, "but make sure the scoring stays up!!!"

No doubt! But someone is smiling somewhere...because as I recently posted, scoring is at an all time high so far this year. Hey, why not just give them 5 downs, and cut out some of the penalties???!!!
