GERMANY BEAT SWEDEN !!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN !!! ????
This is my biggest beef about this year's Olympics.....NHL not included. The great hockey we would have all watched! Of course I am pulling for Canada, but I only know these gents a little. Not their fault....they have an opportunity of a lifetime.

I saw that shortly after. That's more stunning to me. We've been so bad at curling for the last 12 years that I forgot we used to be good at it. When I read the article that we once dominated the sport I was like "Am I reading this right? We stink at curling".

Yesterday was a massive improvement to change the narrative for the US Olympics. They were comparing this to 1998 and calling it our worst Olympics since then. And we were in danger of a lower medal count at 13. Suddenly we have shot up to 21 and 4th overall.

It's no longer a disappointing Olympics.

I watched the highlights of the U.S v Canada at lunch. Quite an upset!
I really got into curling in the 02 Olympics when G.B women won gold.

The curling was a bit of an upset....but not the hockey. These teams have been pretty even for years, but the US finally won one....in a shootout. That sounds pretty even to me. Tough day in Canada yes, because we are passionate about hockey and curling. But in this day and age, there are far too many good hockey and curling programs to assume that one country can always win.

We are doing fine, with 24 medals, although I think we have under achieved in a handful of events. But this is often the case in The Olympics....favourites do not always win in individual competitions. Norway however is still impressing overall.

Great Britain has been a powerhouse in curling for a long, long time. And to be sure, anytime I hear the name Muirhead I get a little worried!

Have to boast a little....our gals just claimed gold and silver in ski cross, which is a very cool sport (racing down a hill at the same time). Love their red flannel tops, like true canucks would wear!! Ties our most medals in any Winter Olympics. Hope we can sneak another one or two medals into the total.

27 medals now, a record haul for Canada with a few more opportunities to get some more. The Own The Podium program put in place before Vancouver 2010 has proven to be a smashing success!

Yes it has.....the really good news is that we broke our record and did not get a medal in men's and women's curling (although we won the new Mixed Doubles). So the range of skill is widening. Having said that, I never saw those 2 curling teams play so poorly. Watch Canada to do very well in the upcoming world championships.

                              How's this for irony....

Nadezhda Sergeeva, the pilot for the Russian women’s bobsled team, has tested positive for a banned heart medication. The kicker to this story: Earlier this month, she showed off her “I Don’t Do Doping” sweatshirt.
