Oh you know, he only competed for the Denver fan base’s favorite position, back-up QB.

I think there was 2s and 3s out there when Kelly played . There isnt a massive gap between 2nd and 3rd string with most .

It would have been a lot of 3's with very little 2's left by the time Kelly got in. Just based on the timing of the first preseason game.

I would disagree with you about there not being a gap between 2's and 3's. There are some 3's who will make the team and become 2's (and eventually higher) and there are some 2's that will become 3's and probably lose their jobs. But speaking just in terms of large groups, 2's are the guys backing up in the NFL, and one play away from becoming starters and 3's are guys desperately fighting to make a practice squad.

That's not to be negative on Kelly, he can only face the players put in front of him. But it's the reality, that there is a learning curve between 2's and 3's and an even bigger one between 1's and 2's. This week he'll face mostly 2's, and that will provide a great opportunity for him to elevate his game. And based on the way he's presented himself, it seems like he'll relish the challenge and learn from it, whether it's positive, negative, or in-between.

With a lot of hard work he might be able to get to Zac Dysert or Matt Mauck levels.

I've read before that Aaron Rodgers often throws a lot of interceptions during practice, his theory is that's the time to find out what works and doesn't work.

Kelly will have bad days, the key will be can he learn from his mistakes and grow

2nd string DB’s make teams, only a handful of 3’s make it and usually because they can play special teams.

Nah they were 2nd string, only the 3rd string QBs get the love. Except Jarious Jackson.

So Paxton Lynch is now going to become the favorite in a few weeks

Maybe he beats out Cousins in the next 3 weeks to steal that starting gig??
Kelly didn't struggle...He played like you would expect essentially a rookie to play in his first ever NFL game time.

It was reported he struggled in practice against the 2’s, in the “backup” spot. I didn’t say anything about the game. It was pretty clear he looked good out there against against the 3’s and other players who won’t be on a roster in a month or so.
