If Elway had it the way he really wanted we probably do not have Wade and imo do not have a defense with the ability to carry us to a SB50 Win.

Elway had a part in the success but lets be real about what he wanted and how Wade actually got here. Elway got his way...Wade is gone...VJ is here...and look at our defense now.

Just like we can say Shanahan had no success without Elway....what success has Elway had without PM?

Elway is not as bullet proof as people think

I am all for Elway getting another year but if he keeps this coaching staff AND he fails to address pass protection properly AGAIN than he should be removed for someone who actually knows what this team needs to win.

lol yeah, once again we have one of the worst QBs in the entire league. Seems to be our thing

When it keeps happening year after year...maybe it is the passing support for the QB and the coaching for the offense....

Just saying even PM looked questionable in 2015...and every QB has looked bad since 2015.

Maybe we are not doing enough to support the QB with players and coaches who can make the QB's job possible to succeed.

It shows too that one or two great moves (though we can thank the Bengals for retaining VJ) can cover a lot. All of a suddenly stars start sprouting everywhere when Manning is your QB. We had a defensive coach before Wade, but Wade took them to a new level and had them aggressive and productive in the playoffs all the way to a ring. Everybody looks good and the GM gets credit for drafting defense during our run.

Elway is going to have to make a great move or be gone. Because right now it looks like we're reverting to what the mean should be without Manning or Wade.

It's pretty recent and he proved that he could build a SB-winning team. How many other GM's have a couple SB's under their belt? Who do you think should replace him that's going to get us back there anytime soon?

I think PM and Wade are great examples of how good coaching can put things together.

PM was essentially probably the best offensive coach we have had since before the McD times.

Wade maybe the best defensive coach I have seen in Denver since I been a fan.

So yea these two moves covered up for a lot of other bad moves.

I am really starting to see signs in Elway of what hurt Shanahan so bad as a GM...the inability to learn from past mistakes and lucky success. That and being thickheaded with may be the same thing who knows.

Why wait until next week. See if Kelly can coach now.

Let's be real about that with some facts. Elway let the HC pick his coordinators which is the norm and Kubes picked the guys he worked with in HOU. Where is this alleged disdain toward Wade? Wade said he didn't want to stay if VJ (his former subordinate in HOU) was hired.

Everything I have read is that Denver choose not to give Wade another contract not that Wade left.

Report: Broncos pushed out Wade Phillips over contract dispute

According to 9News' Mike Klis, citing "multiple sources," Phillips and Broncos general manager John Elway had a financial disagreement after the team won Super Bowl 50.

Phillips, who was entering the final year of his contract, approached Elway hoping to become the NFL's highest-paid defensive coordinator by "a substantial margin." Elway declined, countering with an "either-or option" -- an extension or a pay raise.

He wasn't getting both, but took the latter.

A lame duck, Phillips coached the entire season without an assurance about his future. Once Gary Kubiak suddenly retired, it became clear that Phillips was no longer in the team's plans.

Vance Joseph was named Kubiak's successor on Jan. 11. That same day, word spread that secondary coach Joe Woods was to be promoted to coordinator. On Jan. 12, ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news that Phillips would join Sean McVay in Los Angeles with the Rams.
Some articles suggest a mutual parting of ways like how Fox left.

Considering what was done with the Defense in 2015 if the new hc did not want to keep Wade then it would have been prudent imo to find another HC

McVay seems to be doing very well with Wade....and a front office that makes pass protection a priority in the off season.

You're either winning, or you're losing. There is no coasting. Your record is what it is over the past couple of years. Otherwise Shanny could have coasted forever.

Lets now wait another decade before replacing a lame duck GM

If Elway can not find the people who can fix our pass protection than lets make a change. Who ever is giving him advice now is giving him BAD advice but he seems to be stuck with his front office like how Shanahan was stuck with DCs.

we need a mobile quarterback period we should have got Lamar Jackson and let our defense blitz more
every quarterback we played so far has time until next game to throw ball
