    Broncos get Andre Holmes

The Buffalo Bills released Andre Holmes yesterday and the Broncos have claimed him through waivers. In 6 years Holmes has 127 receptions for 1,739 yards, averaging 13.7 yrds/rec. and 15 touchdowns. Hopefully he can become a better receiver here in Denver or get more touches at least. Welcome to Denver Andre.

That's curious. Why not Kelvin Benjamin who is younger and far more talented?

Claiming Kelvin meant we would pick up his $8 mill salary, was never going to happen

Because Andre Holmes played 2 years in Oakland under Bill Musgrave, so getting him up to speed shouldn't take long. And Benjamin is doing a great job of getting himself out of the NFL. He makes stupid comments he never should have made, and his production has steadily decreased since his rookie year.

    As reported by www.newyorkupstate.com

Orchard Park, N.Y. -- The*Buffalo Bills*released wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes Tuesday with four games remaining in the 2018 season.

Benjamin dramatically underperformed in a contract year and the*outcry for his release intensified*over the past few weeks as the Bills offense*has started to improve*. The offense was improving but Benjamin continued to struggle.

In 12 games (10 starts) he had just 23 catches for 354 yards and one touchdown. His 29 yards-per-game is the lowest mark of his five-year career.

The Bills signed cornerback Denzel Rice and defensive end Mike Love of their practice squad to fill the roster spots.
NYUP.com sat down with Bills general manager Brandon Beane last week and it seemed like the team was still interested in evaluating Benjamin down the stretch of the season.

"Unfortunately for a lot of reasons, it hasn't worked this year," Beane said. "I don't think it's helped that we've had (four) different quarterbacks in there and who he's getting reps with. Our whole offense struggled the first part of the year and it's starting to pick up some steam and hopefully we will see that continue to improve the last (few) weeks.

"Kelvin's a warrior, he's competitive, and he's worked hard. He wants it. There's some plays he's probably put too much pressure on himself to make that he hasn't made, and you know we've just tried to encourage him. (We've told him) to keep working, keep doing it, relax, be yourself. You saw him make a big play last week to help us get that first touchdown, hopefully these last five weeks we'll see him be able to make some more plays and our offense in general."

On one of Zay Jones' touchdown catches against Miami, the replay shows that Benjamin wasn't even looking back at the quarterback and seemed to slow down to half speed with no real awareness of the play.

He finished with two catches for just 20 yards. On Allen's third-quarter interception, Benjamin was the target and Bills coach Sean McDermott took issue with the route.

"Maybe (we need) a little bit better ball but then we have to make sure we cut the fat off the route, also,"McDermott told WKBW's Joe Buscaglia*. "There's some technique issues there that we have to clean up."

Holmes has played in all 12 games this season but his contributions have been mostly on special teams. He had 12 catches on the season for 157 yards and wasn't likely in the team's plans past this season.

The moves create playing time for the Bills' young wide receivers like rookies Robert Foster and Ray Ray McCloud.

McCloud has been inactive the past few games and he will now get some reps down the stretch.

The Bills signed Isaiah McKenzie back on Nov. 5 and he has produced in three games with the team. He has seven catches for 71 yards and five rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown.

You mean the guy that tried to blame Cam Newton for his drop in production at the end of his time in Carolina, and was just released by the Bills less than a year after being released from Carolina? While I can't say for sure, it appears that instead of working hard to improve, he'd rather blame others for his issues. I'll pass.

Got it. Thanks for the fill in on Benjamin guys. Had no idea, just remembered him as a stud on the Panthers. Sucks that after all they gave up to get him the Bills couldn't make it work.

No problem, He obviously had some talent based on his first couple years in Carolina. But when I look at pictures of him, he "looks" overweight to me. Add that to what I previously said, I question his work ethic. That said, people can change and sometimes a change in scenery helps. But if it's true we'd have to pick up $8 mil in salary, he's not worth the risk.

Because Kelvin is lazy and a serious underperformer

I dont think we would have to pickup his entire salary for the year, he's already been paid through 13 games. It would however be about 2.5 million if my math is right.
