The real cost would be his negative influence on a young WR room. No thank you.

Last thing the team needs is an underperforming locker room virus. Smart to not go for Benjamin. Not to mention what others have said about Holmes having played for Bill before.

He sounds like someone whom ego went to his head. He started off looking like a stud with high potential and turned out to be a lazy virus with no accountability.

I'll take the quiet guy that has some familiarity with the system than the overpriced whiner. If he was complaining about Newton, what would he be saying about Case????

People here are very astute about Benjamin who's name has practically disappeared through the years. He probably yearns for fair weather like that he was accustomed to in Carolina while Holmes will be a good addition with his familiarity to Musgrave though the Broncos need to trounce the 'niners on the ground thus giving Holmes another week under his belt. Also, the Broncos need to realize they'll be playing on a very soft natural turf instead of a hard ground like that in Denver. They need to realize the game will be slowed down trudging through the San Fran dirt/mud and make the game plan accordingly. Don't y'all think so?

Having looked at the weather in Santa Clara post reply, I see that dry weather is dominating the forecat thru Sunday, but that doesn't mean the field will dry up especially when the field crew will be applying water regularly. 'Niners are notoriously field dressers. Makes for a slow turf, but softer landings, but they may try to trick the visitor so two pair of cleats will be necessary as the game is played, especially for those dashing/chasing/cutting/pursuing.

This type of efficiency has been missing a couple of times in the past for us (see Elvis Dumervil and the fax machine debacle), I'm glad we got it done. I liked Holmes in Oakland, hopefully he picks up a little slack. I'm also hoping Hamilton gets some play.

More on Andre Holmes from 247 Sports.

Broncos claim WR Andre Holmes off waivers after Sanders injury

    by*Zack Kelberman

    Dec 5, 3:18 PM

Well, Denver did not wait long at all to replace*Emmanuel Sanders.

The Broncos on Wednesday claimed wide receiver*Andre Holmes*off waivers from the Buffalo Bills, minutes after coach*Vance Joseph*confirmed Sanders likely suffered a season-ending Achilles' tendon injury during practice. An MRI is expected to confirm the diagnosis, sending Sanders to injured reserve.

Holmes entered the NFL in 2011 as an undrafted free agent out of small-school Hillsdale College. He was signed, then released, by the Minnesota Vikings, and landed on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad for much of his rookie campaign.

In 2012, Holmes made his professional debut for Dallas, catching two passes for 11 yards across seven games. He finished the year on the taxi squad.

Holmes bounced from the Patriots to the Oakland Raiders, where he enjoyed a career season in 2014, hauling in 47 receptions for 693 yards and four touchdowns. He added another 327 yards and seven touchdowns from 2015-16, working under then-Raiders offensive coordinator*Bill Musgrave, who holds the same position with Denver.

Holmes joined the Buffalo Bills in 2017, signing a three-year, $6.5 million contract. He never materialized into anything more than a bit player, recording 277 yards and three touchdowns over the past two years. The Bills waived him on Tuesday.

At 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Holmes offers the Broncos an outside pass-catcher with the additional benefit of contributing on special teams. He should be active Sunday at San Francisco and step in as the No. 4 receiver behind*Courtland Sutton,*DaeSean Hamilton*and Tim Patrick. The club also has*River Cracraft*on the five-man depth chart.

Fourth-round rookie Hamilton, used sparingly to this point, will start in Sanders' stead, opposite fellow first-year pro*Sutton, who caught his third TD in last Sunday's win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

So it looks like Holmes is going to be here for depth, listed as the 5th WR on the depth chart. Tim Patrick is listed as the #2 WR, and Hamilton the #3, or probably the slot receiver. Let's see what they've got.

Former Bills’ WR Kelvin Benjamin is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, per source. Another weapon for stretch run.

They can have him. That will only help us as his attitude and work ethic will be detrimental to the chiefs. A bad attitude spreads quickly. As does laziness.

I'm surprised. Andy Reid is usually a very good judge of a player. Maybe he knows something we don't?
