I love Kubiak, but Im SO happy hes not the OC. His offenses are laughably stale, his cronyism would handcuff the team (here comes Dennison, Pariani, Klint Kubiak, lol), and he would absolutely detract from the authority and autonomy of Fangio given his stature within the organization

My only worry is that now well have no one to check Elway and Matt Russell in the draft room. Russell is a cancer and needs to have been dumped 5 years ago.

Would not surprise me if he did.

There's no report that Kubiak is no longer with the Broncos.

Head coach is the only promotion the nfl sees. Every other coach is an assistant. So it is a lateral move therefore able to be blocked.

    Adopted Broncos:
    (2011-2013) Eric Decker
    (2014-current) Bradley Roby
    Adopted posters:
    Everyone

Yeah they can, as long as it's not for a HC opportunity.

The league doesn't differentiate between position coaches and Coordinators. Teams can block any coach under contract from leaving for anything but a Head Coach position.

I understand Kubes is a deserving legendary Bronco.
But this gives me confidence that our new HC will be allowed to do what the last person in the position didnt and stamp his own authority.
Love Kubes but something about this move makes me very optimistic about Elway having been told by Fangio that he needs to be allowed to coach his way.

Another name I see popping up is Nick Sirianni, he is the Colts OC but he doesn't do the playcalling there Frank does so he may be allowed to leave. He comes from the Reid-Pederson-Reich tree

All defensive coordinators do is study offenses. DCs know more different offenses than any OC. Offensive coaches know what they know and run what they know. If they are interested in expanding their repertoire, they attend coaching clinics or spend time with a coach who runs what they want to know. A good, experienced former DC who is a HC will know exactly what style of offense he wants because he knows what is difficult to defend.
