So basically, Denver traded WR Demaryius Thomas for QB Joe Flacco?
    (4th rounders)

(Thomas was just released from Houston)

I can understand the Manning-esque logic as it worked in the past.

Denver can now focus on OL, ILB or one of its more glaring needs.

I am of the belief that Keenum was signed to mentor Mayfield because they are similar.
I think in this draft they are targeting a different type of qb and need a different mentor. Someone with a stronger arm

Sounds like they're going to try to trade Keenum, so that's good, though I doubt anybody is going to want him at his salary.

    I like the trade.

Flacco gives Elway more flexibility in the draft the next couple years regarding QB.

Flacco comes here pretty much on a 1 year deal on a pick we got from Houston. After this year and if Flacco is bad heís released and thereís 0 dead money. If he plays good then thatís a win win.

This reminds me of Matt Flynn/ Mike Glennon signings with the Seahawks and Bears and draft a QB the same year to groom.

Denver can stay at 10 and take BPA if itís Lock then great roll with him and get the best QB to play. If Lock is taken along with another QB before 10 then a really good CB falls to 10 like how Chubb fell to Denver last year.

2020 is supposed to be the great draft class if QB doesnít happen this yearís draft based on how it falls.

Let the trade play out... Go Broncos.

Tampa bay is where I'm guessing.

When you look at it this way it doesn't look so bad.

There's still a lot to play out, but at this point it's hard to get excited over this. This feels like Elway doing to the same thing and trying to recreate the Peyton magic with another aging, below average QB.

I doubt this changes our draft strategy much. If there's a QB we absolutely love at 10 we will still take him even with Flacco. What this prevents is us reaching for a QB that we don't necessarily love in order to have an answer for the future of the position. I think there should be really good options for Oline and LB at 10 so it's nice to have flexibility to go after those spots if we choose. I still think we take a QB in this draft but maybe we take one in the mid rounds and see if we can groom him behind Flacco.

Yes, he probably would have to agree to a paycut with the trade, those always get dicey

To be honest last year I was on the Case Train as I thought that Case could be the Answer at QB I was so wrong about that after the 1st game and 2nd and 3rd and 4th when reality hit me that Case just could not throw from the pocket. Case could not hit open WR's last year to save his life. Joe can hit those WR's and Joe can Throw from the Pocket so This is a WIN WIN...

I mean, Flacco's supposedly going to do a paycut with us as well.

Iím not sure of deatails yet but itís possible we only owe Flacco $2mil in 2019 and nothing after that.
If that is correct, Elway has negotiated a coup.

Hopefully that doesn't mean extending him, or adding more guaranteed

That would make me feel a lot better about this. Ravens were really desperate to unload him if true

It's not. It's been reported his cap number this year for us is $18M, next year $20 Mil.
