    Rob Gronkowski Announces Retirement

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from the NFL via an Instagram post on Sunday evening after nine seasons with the New England Patriots, putting an end to a career in which he transcended the tight end position and was also one of the league's most colorful personalities off the field.

Gronkowski's 79 touchdown receptions since joining the Patriots as a second-round draft choice in 2010 led the NFL. He had 10 or more touchdown receptions in five seasons, which is the most by a tight end in NFL history.

Not surprised. There was a lot of talk last year. Part of me is going to miss him.

Gronk in the booth? Not sure if I'm ready for that.

He's one of the few Pats players I didn't dislike (as players).

Gronk in the booth would be hilarious. Hopefully he can control himself lol.

He will be a big loss, even if he had some injuries in recent past. Just knowing you have a guy like him on your side is a boost.

I concur with you Housh….I am pretty tough on Pats' players, but Gronk was alright, other than he was a real thorn as an opponent.

Good for Gronk. He's young and relatively healthy. He also hasn't spent a DIME of his NFL salary.

    He's set FOR LIFE.

Yep. He’s quite a savvy individual when it relates to finances, investing, and entrepreneurial endevours.

I hear ya. Tom, and why not Bill too. Might drain our Smack forum, other than some Chargers stuff, but it would not bother me one iota. There are plenty of teams to dislike.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Jaws again.

Probably no chance of him retiring anytime soon..
