Denver way to early 2019 power rankings

Looked at four 2019 power rankings.

To high, to low, right where you would expect.

Post free agency and the draft, I don't think you could expect much more.

I’ll take that based on the lacklustre performance last year.., and all the question marks going into the season..

    Nothing to see here

Nobody will account for how terrible of a hc VJ was, how horrible in game management he was and his failure in in game adjustments

Just as they wont consider how Fangio will effect this team, the improvements that the young players like Sutton should see

They wont consider that a better online, better qb, coaching

In November these rankings will start to mean something

Just curious and I have no idea how many years "power rankings" have existed (forever?), has anyone conducted a study of the historical accuracy (last 25 years) of power rankings from post free agency and the draft to the end of a season? I think the PR's in many cases would be surprisingly inaccurate vs accurate regarding "to high, to low, right where you would expect.

Power rankings are dynamic... they change during the season. They're not intended to be predictive of the final outcome following the SB.

They are what they are... just a 1 to 32 ranking of one person's (or one organization's) opinion of the relative strengths of each team... at one point in time.

Very interesting. I wonder how elementary or complex the formula is that a person or organization would use to derive a fairly accurate 1 to 32 rating of a team. Many possible unknown dynamics from week to week such as injury's, effectiveness of new coaches or players, ( RB Phillip Lindsey or QB Joe Flacco), team chemistry and ultimately win/loss record. Obviously individual and team statistics are paramount but we all know they can be misleading.

Thanks onanygivensunda. I appreciate your feedback. Also, Steve Largent:
