    Pat Bowlen Has Passed Away

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Please see below for a statement from the Bowlen family (Pat Bowlen’s wife, Annabel, and his seven children: Amie, Beth, Patrick, Johnny, Brittany, Annabel and Christianna) on Denver Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen:

“We are saddened to inform everyone that our beloved husband and father, Pat Bowlen, passed on to the next chapter of his life late Thursday night peacefully at home surrounded by family. His soul will live on through the Broncos, the city of Denver and all of our fans.

“Our family wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support we have received in recent years. Heaven got a little bit more orange and blue tonight.

“Pat Bowlen had a competitive spirit with a great sense of humor. As fun-loving as he was, he always wanted us to understand the big picture. We will forever remember his kindness and humility.

“More important than being an incredible owner, Pat Bowlen was an incredible human being.”

It's so unfortunate that he wasn't able to be inducted in good health. It's even more unfortunate that it's going to be posthumous.

Unfortunately, I'm all too familiar with Alzheimer's in my family. Terrible, terrible disease! I'm glad you're at peace now, Mr. B.

You will always be the greatest owner in football history. Much love and respect from across the pond!

I truly respected Pat Bowlen, him having set the standard in my book on what responsible team ownership and the reputation that an NFL franchise should carry. Not so much in Wins and losses, though we Bronco fans certainly have been blessed to be in winning air. But more so in, Mr. Bowlen ran an operation that one could be proud to be a fan of. And also he put forth an ideal of an organization that wanted to "Win one" for all the fans. Because of this, Denver is the best sports town there is, from it's fans to the players. Thank you Pat for all you did. You are one of the best.
