Sorry Peerless - but Broncos 100% drafted Tebow as a franchise QB and as negative as many are here, he did deliver more than Elway did, Griese did, Cutler did, Siemian did, Lynch did, Lock has done in the similar stretch of games. Because of the way his career ended due to Peyton coming here, we will never know if he could have fixed his most glaring flaws if he had been given the time that people insist that Lock should be given.

We don't know what would have happened. Russel Wilson had tryouts and one logic could have been that both Colin Kaepernick and Russel Wilson could have been good signings that year had we retained Tebow, and we don't know how things would have worked out.

Comparing to Cutler is pretty irrelevant - we are not seeking a QB that never wins more than 2 games in a row and is the reason that we loose 5-6 games a year.

If Lock has to have a future here then he needs to be a QB that we trust could get us to the playoffs and win against the elite teams. We are not looking for Andy Dalton II.

Tim Tebow does not fit any reasonable definition of "franchise quarterback" because he isn't even a QB anymore. News of this apparently has yet to reach Denmark.

You don't draft a guy that you have to make hold a towel under his arm while he practices throwing as a franchise QB.

Also, in Tebow's defense, Ben McDaniels isn't exactly a QB whisperer.

What makes Denver the standard of QB development in the league?

Sure, Tebow may have gotten a raw deal in one sense with the signing of Manning but the NFL is a business and Manning type players do not come around that often and most teams would have (did) jump at the opportunity to sign him. Yet, for Tebow's sake, how many other teams did he go to? Three. The Jets, Patriots, and the Eagles. With the Patriots he was reunited with McDaniels and under a great coack in Belichick and summarily dismissed after the preseason in 2013.

His short stay here was a roller-coaster that, admittedly fun to watch and I am sure he played his part. But any thing that was "delivered" was more a team effort coupled with some savvy coaching given the RB/FB/TE that was playing under center - to make the most of what they had and what the fans at the time demanded. Lightening in a bottle, unlikely to be reproduced.

Lock is no Tebow. Lock is also in a more favorable position than Tebow too, being a better QB with a team clearly invested in him at this point but he does need to learn if he is to make the leap from hype and raw talent to a career NFL starting QB with this team.

It's been 9 years man, you need to let the Tebow thing go. Especially since he never got another snap at QB in the NFL after 2011. He attempted 8 passes with the Jets, but they were fake punts and gimmick plays. If he were as magical and good as you truly believe, one of the other 31 teams would have given him a job.

He was never a franchise QB, nor was he ever going to grow into one. It's also slightly ironic when you talk about Tebow like he was some great QB, but then denigrate Andy Dalton, a player who spent 9 years as a starter in the NFL. If Tebow had been Andy Dalton II he might have been able to catch on with another team, as a QB.

It was the coach, Frank Kush. The GM at the time was Ernie Accorsi, and I remember hearing that Elway called and asked him for advice when he first took on the role as defacto GM.
