To me there is zero upside to playing Allen any longer than necessary. He is not the franchise starter, and I believe we have seen the ceiling of what he is capable of. If Lock is your guy, then treat him like he is your guy. Give him playing time now, instead of delaying his development time for essentially no reason at all in a throwaway season.

Maybe the FO just isnt saying anything atm. I'm hoping we get surprised right before the Charger game and hes announced the starter. If this is the route they go then I think it's the right move. If they dont let Lock play at all it's just another fiasco that gets the fans enraged. I mean he went to camp , he played in pre season games so let's see him in real action. The season is over let the kid get out there and get some game time experience.

For sure! Go anyway - tailgating experience if done properly should outweigh everything else!

Lock wouldn't really have any pressure on him. Were not going to the POs. Send him in and tell him to do his best and not worry about turnovers. If he has Ints, then let him learn and move on to the next play. He needs to play more then 2 games and find his timing at NFL speed. With a high draft pick coming next year we have to know what we have in Lock. The only reason to not play him IMO, is the left tackle might get him seriously hurt.

    Mike Klis-
"I know the plan is for Lock to play the final two games. How he performs in those two games won't really have any affect on if they use their first round pick on a QB like Herbert or not

I'm not sure. The way Klis puts it, even if Lock comes out and looks amazing we might still go after Herbert. Interesting strategy.

Haviung a good looking Lock and Hebert on the team could put us in a position for making moves.....I need to look into Hebert a little bit before making any uneducated comments....Papa.....what say you on Hebert vrs. Lock

If Herbert is our pick then Elway should be fired on principle for throwing away a 2nd round pick that he traded up for. That would be a colossal waste of resources

Herbert folded against Auburn and lost to a true freshman, I wouldn’t even consider him in the first round.

Unless Lock has a somewhat decent showing this year and next preseason. If we get Herbert or Tua or whoever and he turns out to be the guy for us, and we can get a QB hungry team to give us something decent for Lock, Elway would look like a genius.

Lock is young and on his rookie contract. If he has a decent enough showing, but we find a better guy in the draft, teams will be interested in Lock. If we can recoup a 2nd for him, we'd be set up pretty well moving forward.

Drew Lock likely would go the way of Josh Rosen. There's really no way that a team would give up anything over the 2nd round pick used on Lock, especially since he has no experience.

Some of this discussion is making me even more "down".....if accurate. I just can not believe that we do not know the QB plan going into another season. It can't be Flacco next year. It just can't. And Allen is not "the guy".

If we're talking next draft, I give the FO an F, in terms of strategy with regard to finding the field leader....given the impact it has had, and will continue to have on the capital we have expended and will keep expending, in trying to make this a complete team.

That's why I said, "if he has a decent showing." If he can show he can read a defense and limit turnovers, and maybe win a game or two, someone will show interest. Rosen didn't look great, but even the Cardinals found a way to move him. If Lock can show potential, teams will be interested.
