    The Bronco Definition of Insanity

Einstein is unofficially credited with saying, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result".

So why is it the Broncos have become a research and development lab for coaches with zero experience at important positions (HC, OC) to learn on the job, while destroying our proud history in the process?

We have a first time HC who's never coached from the sidelines and an OC with no prior experience calling plays. Did we not learn any lessons from handing the reigns to an unqualified and untested VJ as he ran our franchise into the ground the past two seasons? It's like we're trying really hard to disprove Einstein's definition of insanity by continuing to knowingly make the same mistake. Why can't we bring in experienced coaches? I'm not saying we should be able to land elite coaches at every head coordinator or HC position, but do we have to keep bringing in first time HC's and this year also a first time OC? I feel like our franchise has become the lab rat of the NFL as we try untested coaching experiment after experiment to see what happens, and what's happened has been a train wreck. Our 1st 2 consecutive losing seasons in decades is now followed up with an 0-4 start which could easily turn into 3 consecutive losing seasons.

Who is ultimately responsible for these coaching hiring decisions? Is it Elway, Ellis, Annabelle, the trust, all of the above? Whoever it is, why can they only attract and hire the inexperienced and untested from the coaching ranks? Where's John Fox when you need him

Yeah it's a shame when you start looking at how many head coaches , QBs and offensive coordinators we've had in the past 4 or 5 years . It's hard to get any structure and continuity built.

3 head coaches, 4 OCs, 3 DCs, 5 different starting QBs, all in just 4 years.

No team is ever going to be successful with that above.

Though not insanity.....how about putting concerted effort into finding/developing a long term QB, a quality Oline, and more recently, a solid interior to our D?

That's exactly why I want Fangio, Scang and Donetell to stay regardless of season outcome. They are good coach's, they just need the right tools for the job

I agree 100% here. Just go full rebuild at this point. Trade Sanders and as much as I hate to say it, trade Von. John has to go though. Thatís all there is to it.

VJ didnít run the franchise into the ground.

That being said, itís not like they didnít try to add experience to VJís staff. Did some of you forget that Mike McCoy was on the staff in VJís first season until he got fired? There were hold overs from Kubiakís staff as well. VJís first staff was not devoid of experience. They still didnít get the job done.

    Itís not about experience.

Itís about winning the crapshoot because thatís what it is when it comes to finding the right coach or right quarterback.

John Travolta would have been Forest Gump if he had said yes. Would that movie have been anywhere near as good as it was, if he had said yes?

    I agree for many reasons.

We should wait until season ends to try to start figuring out what is going on and the best path forward. Well if we want the best chance for success that is what we will do imo

I really dont think the coaches are the major issue. yes they are all new and have a learning curve but i do see improvement. OL keeps getting better (for what we have). Redzone offense is better. ST keeps getting better, we finally got our sacks but our run d was pathetic, i expect that to be fixed. I see the coaches improving little by little.

My opinion, our issues are with the draft and FA. We had one magical FA year, and the last two years were pretty good drafts. but other then that it has been awful. I have no idea if its all Elway or the scouts or what but we need something to change in the way we draft and sign FA.

Other then Risner our OL is bad, our ILBs are BAAD, and IDL is BAAAAD. We have missed (other then Risner) on every OL fix (although at least we have tried). We have ignored ILB since we let Trev walk, and we have ignored IDL since Malik walked. Shameful.

I would keep the coaches, focus the draft on OL hopefully using Risner as a template of what you want. Get the best ILB avaliable in FA, IDL can be from draft or FA what ever looks best. But they need to bring in a draft specialist, what we have doesn't work. Test Lock out once available, i have seen enough improvement from the Oline I think it will be a fair enough shake. if he is up to the task we can turn this ship around.

Its not just the Broncos that are hiring coaches that have not been a HC before ... Rams, Chargers, Miami with Gase, to name a few of them. Most HC hires are of DC/OC that naturally move up to the next level. The Broncos could easily be 2-2 except for some unfortunate happenings at the end of the game. This coaching staff needs some time to turn the corner, like most new coaches. I think it will be interesting to watch. Kyle Shanahan gets a lot of credit for ... 10 wins in 2 years, 4-12 last season, now this season is looking better for them; maybe.
If Kubiak stayed healthy what would things look like? That situation is difficult to foresee.

Honestly, the Kubiak thrill ride was coming to an end. And not because of Kubes, but the talent on the team was declining. It was starting to show when we held the Pats to 16pts and couldnít muster anything more than a FG. The QB situation has been among the worst in the league. The Receiving group has been mediocre (and thatís being very nice), our OL was horrendous, our Front 7 was extremely suspect and the biggest fatal flaw.......... drafting has been poor.

We never replaced the talent that left with equal or better talent. We decided to go with ďcamp bodyĒ level talent in F/A and project talent in the draft and hope they got better.

I understand letting Barrett go. Obviously in hindsight we should have drafted Nelson and kept Barrett.....

Trev should have been kept but honestly I think Vance would have messed up any defenders we tried to keep who thrive under good coaching but may not have the elite talent level to thrive under any coach.
