I like the idea of keeping all three. Elam= PK. Sauerbrun= P. Ernster= KO + back-up to both Elam + Sauerbrun.

So don't worry about it. You have already proven far better in spelling and grammar than some of our native posters.

But the classier of us don't bother them about it, either. We're glad to have them, too.

It could be very possible if Chris Myers can prove he is a good long snapper and relieve Mike Leach of his duties ,but long snapping is a very underrated task...remember the Giants vs. 49ers playoff game from a couple years back. It is tough to find good long snappers. Still, if we can release Leach, who seems very useless, we can put Ernster on the roster. The way I see things, getting rid of a seventh round draft pick before he gets a chance is worse than getting rid of Leach.

The only way that Sauerbrun is relieved from Denver is if he has an off-the-field problem and I heard that Shannahan is pretty strict about off the field problems.

    Sauerbraun

I think Sauerbraun wins, but this would be one battle I would be happy to be wrong on....Sauerbraun is an ass...

    War Ernster!

I doubt Ernster will be as cocky as Sauerbrun, but Sauerbrun does have the edge as a proven kicker. In any case, I'd like to see us keep Ernster for the long run.

    Sauerbrun's Punting Averages:

    2001 - 47.5yds - 38.9yds net
    2002 - 45.5yds - 37.5yds net
    2003 - 44.6yds - 35.6yds net
    2004 - 44.1yds - 37.5yds net

Actually, bear in mind that the last two seasons have seen Sauerbrun fall out of favour for KOs. He also seems on the decline in terms of non-net averages, but will probably benefit from the thin air.

Ernster doesn't look like much as a kicker, but last year as a punter:

    2004 - 47.8yds

No net for Ernster is given, but taking the N. Arizona net stat (Ernster took all but 2 punts), the net is 44.8yds. So this kid must be pretty good or their special teams are jedi. There is no doubt that this battle will be crucial. But all I can safely say: Better than Jason 'Ugly Boy' Baker!

    Baker is a joke!

I got to watch Sauerbrun here in Carolina over a dozen times and have to admit, I was HAPPY to see him go to Denver. The guy is one of, if not THE best! With the thin air in Mile High, he will only look better.
The downfall with him is his "tude. He is somewhat of a spoiled kid. I remember two years ago at a "meet the players" day in NC, he came out dressed in a long ground length purple fur coat on a 77 degree day with a 12 inch cigar in tote. I couldnt find the strength to even speak to him and thought he was a joke on the day.

If its on the field you want..........we couldnt do better. Off the field, forget the autograph, he may be too busy raking his fur?

The net yardage stat isimportant but I don't think it's as important being able to nail the ball inside the 20. Sauerbrun has great leg from what I hear but I have also heard that he's not very good at directional punting. If Ernster is even Sauerbrun in the other aspects of punting I think he has legitamet chance to beat out.

Cool Sauerbrun is the REAL DEAL!

Todd is a friend of mine and a very misunderstood person. Nobody knows him for who he is and nobody will ever really get to know him. I have been fortunate to have known him since junior high and I can say he is one of the most competitve and sarcastic (dry humor) guys I have ever known. Todd loves challenges and usually he steps up and gets the job done. I realize that this rookie has game, however Todd will work his butt off and make Denver his new home. He is driven and if you give him the benefit of the doubt, you will be happy he is a Bronco.

FYI...I am and always will be a Cowboys fan, but I am also a friend of Todd and will be a fan of which ever team he is on.
    GO BRONCOS!

If he's any good he'll be active

If Ernster is as good as we hope he is I don't think we'll hide him on the PS. PS players can be signed away by other teams as long as its to their active roster. If he's good we can't risk that and we'll have to find room for him. If we go with the 2 active qb trick and waive Leach we might be able to pull this off.

There is no reason to worry about a 7th round kicker.

He says he can kick it out of the endzone, and will have every chance to prove it. If he can do that, he will be a kickoff specialist, if not, they might have him develop a "hernia" or "hamstring" to put him on IR. Regardless, who really cares?

If he can boot the ball, he will make the team...it's pretty simple. If they like him, they can always match an offer like they did Sykes, they just have to put him on the roster.

    good point

Forgot about that IR trick. There was a lot of discussion about it early last year. National media types sort of let the cat out of the bag. But I never heard the league say they were going to check into it. Great way to keep a good prospect as long as it doesn't happen with 1st and 2nd rounders I hope the league looks the other way.
