i'll admit that Theo has made some very solid low-risk/high-reward moves with Baldelli, Penny, Bard, Smoltz, and now Saito. Hopefully they dont pan out

and he resigned Kotsay too! i wish we could make a little move like this (juan cruz? though that will cost a 4th rounder as he's a type A FA)

You guys will be happy with Saito. Seeing him trample us (except during Rocktober) many many times, the guy is a good to great pitcher who can definitely close should need be.

    Congrats to Jim Rice. :salute!:

Like Gossage, it took several years to long to make it in, but at least the wait is over.

    Told ya, South....
I'm happy for you, brother, Rice was a great player.

YES!!! Jim Rice no doubt deserved it!! Too bad they had to wait untill his final year of eligibility to do it.

His detractors say he was too one dimensional, but I say, since he stopped playing left field in the late 80's, no one has controlled that Green Monster as well since.

And there was NO hitter as feared as he was in the late 70s to mid 80s as he was! Stats can back that up too.

I remember reading one of my old Sports Illustrated's , after he had won the 1978 AL MVP, and they were talking about his strength, his powerful swing and bat speed, he could regularly break golf clubs on his DOWNSWING!!! That is some kind of power!!!! He was a HELLUVA driver too, something like the 500-600 yard range one time on a acft. runway, including the bounce/roll. I would have loved to see what he could have driven with today's technologically advanced drivers on a golf course!

Now if these Gomer Pyle baseball voters would vote in Dale Murphy, then my two favorite players of all time would be in!!!
    oh YEAH?
