I thought he played well in 2004. He has a chance as the #5 CB or S. A good ST player is always a welcome addition.

Well...didn't we have five tight ends last year and only two QBs? Seems like Shannahan is willing to risk the QB position for an insane number of safety nets in other areas.

The implication of my original post wasn't to say Middlebrooks would play QB, if you were confused about my wording.

You people are reacting as if Middlebrooks were expected to come in and replace Champ Bailey!

Willie was a STs captain his final year with the Broncos. He's a very good special teams player, which automatically makes him more useful than Roc Alexander. Roc ran back a few kicks last year but didn't play a down at CB.

Willie will do the same unless he's moved to S. He has the speed to be a very good cover safety (not cover CB, cover safety) on obvious passing downs.

Hopefully he can make that transition since he'd be better in coverage over the top than Ferguson.

In nickle coverages the Broncos would have:

    CB - Champ
    CB - D. Williams
    CB - Foxworth
    S - Lynch
    S - Middlebrooks

In dime coverages add Paymah or Ferguson. That's actually potentially a better pass coverage unit than last year's, which was pretty good.

Overall this is a great pickup. It can't hurt and won't cost much and can only help.

I know he wouldn't replace Champ, Cugel, I guess my big fear was someone like Paymah might get the boot (or BVP if Shannahan decides CB depth is more important than QB depth). I like those developmental guys, especially Paymah who I feel is faster and probably has more upside.

We'll see what happens. Middlebrooks may step up and play like a first rounder too. That'd be great and best for the team.

What I meant RC is that if Middlebrooks made the roster a qb wouldn't be bumped off just to make room for him.

We did draft a return guy in the 4th round. He's also an intriguing WR prospect.

I was just looking at your sig TDT26 and thinking its kind of neat to have two guys named Bell on the team. I just hope they don't get labled them Bell Twins: Ding and Dong.

can i get a shout for training camp fodder?
he's gonna be fighting young guys like sam brandom, curome cox for a spot on the roster, and considering his age, previous play, he may not get a roster spot
