Thumbs up t and a are great

[QUOTE=dogfish]hey, what's wrong with T and A? Nothing is wrong with them they are pretty good in my opinion tell them or him remember the redskins game in the rain that was a hell of a run and against the eagles as well in almost every game he played he had a heck of a run, and Ash made some most outstanding catches over his head going in awkward positions he grab he just puts to much pressure on himself and drops a few easy passes here and there but he is only going to get better with time And I hope he stays with Denver.... As for Cutler yes I think he was the best QB in the draft and has a strong arm and good pocket prescience because of the college he played with vandi plays in the toughest division in college sports and he played with a poor team but he still put up great #'s against very stiff competition but he will not start for at least 2 YRS. He's got alot to learn Elway took him a couple of years to master Shannys playbook, there is nothing wrong with Jake as long as he plays within himself and I think he will.... WELL THATS MY TAKE

    Thumbs down Only for KR?????

"he was drafte soley for KR just happened to be a pleasant surprise"??? What a load of baloney. Darrent Williams was 1st team All-Big12 at cornerback as a junior. SInce the Big12 is recognized as one of the best defensive conferences, he was recognized for his outstanding conrnerback play. He was injured in his senior year, so his numbers weren't all that great. I don't know where the idea came from that he was drafted only because of his KR abilities. He was an outstanding defensive and KR player. Even Gil Brant said that he would have been a 1st rounder if he were three inches taller. Turns out that his speed, quickness, toughness, and intelligence make up for those three inches. Bash Shannahan all you want, but then give him credit for an excellent draft last year. Every pick but Clarrett is still associated with the team.

Well I am NOT going back and read to see if this has been posted.

Has anyone even considered that maybe Lelie hasn't been traded because He could be good enough to be a number one? You know Rod Smith cant and wont play forever. Coach could be saving him for or as his replacement. Now before you start to thrash me listen. He was on the chopping block at draft time, but, Coach in his infinite wisdom wanted a number one or number two trade for him. So, does logic and just plain ol' common sense tell you that maybe he is worth more than you give him credit for?

Yes at one time I expected ashley to be a pro bowl players I have since lowered that expection to do something more than catch an occassion long ball.
I don't recall you ever having said that in any thread pretaining to Lelie.

As far as tater is concerned everyone thought of him as the next CP.
No JR you've got that backwards you were the one that said he was the next CP ie that he's greedy. Which btw hasn't been proven true to date.

Just as everyone atleast the bashers expect cutler to be the next elway.

same thing tater did not happen so pardon me if I stand up for all teh bashing that is done to Jake, until such time as cultler take the helm Jake is my QB.
Just the basher go to far in negative direction I see some who go way to far in other direction. For example always wanting to pin all the blame on every other player accept Plummer and when he does make a mistake remaining absolutely silent.

I have rather low expectations from Mikeys draft choices
Really? I sure you said at one time that QG is a great rb.

BTW he was drafte soley for KR just happened to be a pleasant surprise.

GO back to draft day 2004 and listen closely to Mikey's press conference.ted the link before,
GOing out of town so listen and weep.
Sorry JR that's not exactly accurate. Shanahan did not draft D Will just to be a return specialist. He did from the beginning expect he could compete he just didn't it would happen as fast as it did.

June 1st cuts are comming up and there will be alot of wr's that will need teams, Ash is screwed and so is Denver if they think they can get a 1st round pick for him, they better unload him quick and just get what they can now.

You have a valid point, Shanahan if Lelie was only producing around what a 4th or 5th round receiver would, or thought he only had the ability of a 3rd rounder it is likely that Shanahan would be content with that for him. Why ask for what you think he is not worth or let it go this far. I really think that Shanahan will give him an extension, we would likely be handing him what Smith's contract is costing the team. Obviously we were going to toss a bunch to T.O., so this is all speculation but it makes sense. Lelie probably did not understand it and Ol' Humdinger is probably in talks with Lelie to explain their plan. Like I said it is all speculation, however it does explain the length so far, if Shanahan really waited and pushed this out, Lelie will not stay and Likely will pick up in Oakland, Kansas CIty or San Diego and then we will deal with him, if I felt screwed over by my team I would do the same and show them their mistake was taking that route.

Smile No trade within the AFC West....

I hope you don't think that Shannahan will trade Lelie to any of the other three teams in the AFC West. I seriously doubt that the Broncos would even talk to the other teams about a trade. Lelie is too familiar with the offense and is talented. I could see a trade to the NFC.

i don't usually speak for other posters too much, but i'm fairly certain he was suggesting that lelie could potentially sign with another AFC west team as a free agent next year if we don't trade him this year. . . . .

unless lelie knows something we do not, i don not understand why he is reacting to walkers aquisition so personally. Smith is not getting any younger and we will eventually need a replacement for him. I initially thought this is why we brought in walker in the first place. obviously making as much as he is walker should be expected to be utilized right away, but in the long term why wouldnt it be walker-lelie like it was mccaffery-smith?

    Thumbs down

It is my opinion that Lelei is looking at the dollar signs in his next long term contract. If he continues with the Broncos, the contract amounts don't look very big. Contracts for #3 receivers are not in the "big money" category.

This is completely subjective but I don't believe that Ashley thinks that he can beat out either Rod or Jovan. He says that he doesn't feel like he will be given a chance to compete for either the number 1 or number 2 spots. In actuality he may even have a struggle with the competition at the #3 spot. If these outcomes were to occur, Lelei's value would be even less that his current rookie contract. He probably would receive a better contract from another team based upon his production the last two years as opposed to what little playing time he is likely to receive this year.

A second possibility is that in his mind it may be "beneath him" to not be a starter. Who knows what his motivation actually is? Either way the dye is cast. There is no going back.

Whether it is money or ego he appears to view this year as a no win situation. He has set the wheels in motion and is almost powerless now to stop them. Unless our receivers are terrible, I can't see Mike Shanahan using him at all if Ashley misses even the first day of training camp. The organization can't afford to cave in to hold out demands and Lelei misjudged his worth in trade with another team. Taking into account Jovan's injury and the Broncos unproven receiving talent, Denver must either hold on to him as a hedge or get fair market value in trade.

Unless the Broncos can find an acceptable trade, Ashley will have wasted this upcoming year and players don't have that many good years to begin with. He will be forced into a one year contract that will be a make or break situation. He has been an above average #2 receiver so IMO some team will give him a shot. However, if money was the original motivation, I can't see how he can ever recoup the financial losses for this year and next.

I would love to see Duckett in a bronco uniform, can almost GARE-RON-TEE a redzone touchdown. We all know how good the broncos are at getting to the redzone, scoring in it is the issue

Historically, when players have taken this approach with the Broncos, they have not hung around long. We will see if Lelie keeps it up into training camp, but if he doesn't change his tune soon, I can't see Shanny keeping him.

He claims he will sit out the year, which in reality means only sitting out the first ten weeks. If he sits out longer than that, then this year will not count towards his 'years of service' that determine if he can be a free agent.
The human body has two ends on it: one to create with and one to sit on. Sometimes people get their ends reversed. When this happens they need a kick in the seat of the pants. --- Theodore Roosevelt
