That game actually exposed Nebraska for the husk of a team they once were. They had been ranked based on their glorious past not their current talent. That game showed just how much of a decline they were in.

While it made him a higher draft pick it has certainly not helped. People saw that game or saw the stats didn't realize how much Nebraska was starting to suck and their fan expectations went through the roof! Hard for that kid to live up to the hype.

Yeah personally I want just one back that carries the load like TD used to. I think Bell could do that, he only has one problem he has, he runs upright but i'm sure that can be fixed. Here's a fun fact, one of the knock on TD was that HE HIMSELF ran upright.

I still don't think they should have fired Frank Solich, I was a fan of his and his achievements coming in after Osborne.

Nah, he had bad recruiting and the team was only getting worse for the little time he was here. The only season he did ok in was the one where he inherrited Osborne's team. I think they made the right move and now NE has been on the rise again. Next season will be the first season this coach will be able to put a full line of starters that he recruited in the game though so we will see exactly how good he is.

Personally I liked the Option and the style they ran, that was the wrong move by the Nebraska AD to bring in a WC Coach. I am not a Nebraska fan by any means but that was just stupid.

NOPE. Noone is able to run the option anymore like Osborne could. Nebraska just decided to move on and change to become a winning program again.

This is a clear case of hijacking.

Sorry West I'm not trying to rag on Mike Bell I hope he makes the team but this is not credible thing to say.

I was just thinking that as I was reading through your post. When TD first broke into the League he tended to run upright.

Dayne proved that if its pre-season, you should start him against the Chiefs

The man that wins the starting job will be the guy that can move the chains...................It's pointless to have 50 yard runs without scoring on that drive. When it's third and 2 and you NEED to convert that third down, or else you're punting. That's the most important skill of a Bronco runningback. So, if that guy turns out to be Mike Bell.................Not Tatum, not Dayne, then it won't surprise me all that much, just because Mike Bell is know for his one cut and and lower your head style. ..................Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne are capable of bigger plays perhaps, but we don't neccessarily need big plays that make the highlights on ESPN. Three yards and a cloud odf dust consistently is better than a 50 yard run and then three consecutive runs of 2 yards or less................which would result in a punt...................Evaluating a Runningback for the Broncos and evaluating a Runningback for any other NFL team are two completely different skills you're looking for. ..............

It's funny that everyone is so quick to bash Dayne, even though every chance he got last year, he played superbly.

Not to mention the coaches obviously think awful highly of him or else he would not have been playing with the 1st team during the latest camp.

    A snippet from yesterday's post...

    From: http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_3885407

    Tatum on Dayne:
"When I heard the news about Mike and then we didn't get another running back, I was like, 'Oh, yeah, it's on. That's all I need,"' Bell said. "Then comes the start of quarterback camp and Dayne goes with the first group and I'm like, 'Ahh, here we go again."'

I am going to love this up coming season when 90% of this board (and even more around the rest of the NFL ~ especially you GC) have to eat their words concerning Ron Dayne.
